Lonzo Ball had a really lousy NBA summer league debut; can we blame it on the shoes?

–

Victoria Azarenka has advanced to the 4th round at Wimbledon. Azarenka gave birth to her 1st child in December  2016. Four words “Weaker sex my ass.”

Apparently some Dak Prescott-autographed sports cards “may not be authentic” as they appear to have been signed by a machine. The Cowboys are just happy that an embarrassing headline involving one of their players doesn’t involve an arrest.

–

Houston signed to $228 million extension, largest contract ever. Plus he’ll still be able to plan on having June off.

–

What’s in it for fans?  As all of these NBA players sign record contracts at least they’ll have the opportunity to cry in $20 arena beers.

–

A Tampa man was taken into custody after assaulting a flight attendant on a Delta flight from Seattle to Beijing. Once again time to play that game “terrorism” or “just Florida?”

–

Florida man who allegedly assaulted a Delta flight attendant was traveling on “dependent” pass. And they kicked girls off United for wearing leggings

That moment when President of United States says he doesn’t believe his own intelligence services but DOES believe President of Russia.

–

Trump says he is “going to London.” Right about when he releases his tax returns.

–

2 more Americans gored today at Pamplona. Ah for those innocent days when bull-runners were the most embarrassing people US sent aboard.

–

If Putin actually said “Sure, we meddled in 2016, Hillary Clinton would’ve been disaster,” guessing many Trump voters would go “Ok, thanks.”

–

Before Trump’s tweet, wonder how many G-20 attendees actually knew who John Podesta was?

What is this  problem with Ivanka Trump temporarily sitting in her father’s chair at the G-20 summit?  I’m sure  no one would’ve had an issue if it were President Hillary Clinton and Chelsea….

Remember days when we worried that electing Clinton or Bush would make USA look like banana republic w/ family dynasties? #Ivanka #G20

–

Suppose as @realDonaldTrump shows us again he trusts Ivanka more than actual experts, US should be glad at least he doesn’t have 10 kids.

Just numbers.

Cubs outfielder John Jay pitched a scoreless 9th despite throwing pitches in the 50s. In related news Jamie Moyer just unretired.

The highest-seeded American man was eliminated at Wimbledon. All together now – who? (Jack Sock)

Happy #WorldChocolateDay And most women are thinking “Isn’t EVERY day World Chocolate Day?

–

Maine governor Paul Lepage “the sooner the print press goes away the better society will be.”. Is this a shameless attempt to be offered a position in the Trump administration?

–

Same punchline different start with a story from ESPN that the FBI investigated  former Indiana men’s basketball coach Bob Knight, 76, over allegations that he inappropriately touched four women during a 2015 visit to the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency.

But maybe Knight’s defense is that looking at Trump, Sanders, Biden, Clinton etc, that he figured it was his best chance to launch a 2020 Presidential bid?

–

Rick Perry on economics “You create the supply and the demand will follow”. Sounds like someone with a warehouse full of beanie babies.

–

My Autocorrect tries to correct to “Fairness”. Shame this doesn’t happen with a certain someone’s tweets.

–

In Hamburg Hotel, apparently Trump’s staff either waited too late or didn’t have enough clout, or flat out antagonized the top hotels, resulting in the President of the United States having to bunk down in a guest house.   Maybe Trump ought to add to list of positions he needs to fill – good White House travel agent.

Putin and Trump meeting face-to-face: that awkward moment when you meet your Internet relationship after years of heart-to-heart talks?

–

2 hours between Putin & Trump today? So many questions. But as even occasional reality TV fans know – we never really know what happens in the  Fantasy Suite.

–

Putin Trump went over 2 hours despite being scheduled to go 30. “If ever I could leave you…”

Putin’s getting more face time with Trump than the US Press Corp have had in months.

According to NY Times,  Trump “accepts” Putin’s denials that he had anything to do with attempting to swing the 2016 election to Mr. Trump.

Because “anything” wasn’t “everything?”

Winning and not winning.

If #SFGiants continue resurgence and finish at .500 they won’t make playoffs but will be one of most fascinating baseball psychology stories

–

Nikki Haley, US Ambassador to the UN tweeted 2 days ago “Spending my 4th of July in meetings. #ThanksNorthKorea

This week was #NationalBikiniDay So all those disgusted by seeing Chris Christie on a closed beach – could have been worse #smallmercies

Hobby Lobby is paying a $3 million fine over thousands of illegally acquired artifacts from modern-day Iraq.  Well, suppose it makes sense, the company’s pre-birth pro-life stance has nothing to do with antiquities.  And not like they were stealing from American Christians…

–

Microsoft is laying off 3,000. Surely this is Obama’s fault.

Old enough to remember days of Polish jokes. After cameras are off in Warsaw will Poles use Trump’s visit as springboard for American jokes.

–

Remember those innocent days when the  “ugly Americans” abroad were just tourists?

–

And all those entrepreneurs  working on Trump insult bingo games have to expand the game to include more options within the US, like ex-Presidents, intelligence agencies, etc.

I know climate change is happening more quickly than many expected but who expected such a big snowflake from South Carolina?

Trump on election meddling  “Nobody really knows for sure.  I think it was Russia, but I think it was probably other people and/or countries, and I see nothing wrong with that statement.”

Can someone keep Trump away from South Park. Otherwise we’re probably only a few days away from #BlameCanada

How bad do the Yankees have to get as a team before haters can just start enjoying watching Aaron Judge? Asking for a friend.

–

Aaron Judge appears to be real deal. And Yankees pitchers giving up so many runs on regular basis means he’ll keep getting fastballs.

–

Dallas LB Damien Wilson arrested for allegedly threatening a man with a gun and backing his truck into a woman – two counts of aggravated assault – during a 4th of July celebration.   Well, training camps have not really opened yet and already the Cowboys are in midseason form.

Something we learned this month – Trump voters are about as familiar with the Declaration of Independence as they are with Julius Caesar.

–
Poland has promised @realDonaldTrump cheering crowds when he visits – the government will bus in supporters. Trump wants how-to tips

–

GOP senators largely avoided 4th of July events over potential Trumpcare protests.
So – aren’t they supposed to be proud of bill?

–

The Tour de France is in full swing, or rather ride, right now. In the USA the average reaction “Has Lance Armstrong been reinstated yet?”

–

US car sales have fallen for six straight months. Somehow I missed the @realDonaldTrump tweet taking credit.

–

You’d think the guy who could take care of ISIS in 30 days could would find North Korea easy by comparison.

44 states are rejecting requests by the new Voter Fraud Commission to turn over sensitive personal information on voters to the Feds.  Hmm, can we expect a new electoral college map to include only the six states that will comply.

–

North Korea apparently fired an Intercontinental Ballistic missile capable of reaching Alaska.  So when is Trump going to appoint Sarah Palin to a defense position to keep an eye on them?

–

Actually Trump’s response, on Twitter of course   “North Korea has just launched another missile. Does this guy have anything better to do with his life?”

Of course, many people in the world are asking that same “Does this guy…” question about @realdonaldTrump and his tweets.

Tesla has introduced their new $35,000 “car for the masses.”  The perfect starter vehicle for parents who start their children with a little million dollar loan?

And this year, have to wonder, are the British as happy to celebrate the USA being on our own, as Americans are to be independent?

–

Remember those halcyon days when the most embarrassing thing a US President could do was get a blow job from an intern?

–

Jamie Horowitz, president of national networks for Fox Sports, has been fired. Rumors are sexual harassment. So when will he accept job with the Trump administration?

–

According to a person briefed on the matter, the ouster came amid an investigation into sexual harassment.

–

The #Yankees have lost 14 of 19th games. Who do they think they are, the 2017 #SFGiants?

–

Dale Earnhardt Jr. crashed out of his last NASCAR race before retirement. Shame, nice if he could’ve taken a last lap with left blinker on.

–

Chris Christie spent some of Sunday afternoon on one of the NJ Jersey beaches he had ordered closed with the budget impasse. It would of course be tacky to make beached whale jokes.

–

#ChrisChristie had 11% approval ratings BEFORE he decided to enjoy the day with his family on a beach he’d closed. Shooting for new record?

–

Carpe diem. At least 18 died after a German tour bus crashed into a truck on a Bavarian highway. Sad, but a reminder that we have more to fear from bad luck, and perhaps stupidity, than terrorism.

–

So really, Trump wouldn’t dare make a “bleeding” reference to Angela Merkel when she p*sses him off this week, would he?

–

Trump & Putin will meet face to face at this week’s #G20. Does that mean they’ll forego their nightly bedtime chats?

Among those protesting calling for @realDonaldTrump’s impeachment – how many are Democrats & how many are Pence-preferring Republicans?

A Colorado man was arrested after he fatally shot his adult son who was trying to enter his house, because he thought his son was an intruder.   Nothing to see here, move along.  ‘Murica.

Will Blake Griffin’s 5 year $173 million contract be the Clippers’ biggest flop of all time?

Blake Griffin signed a 5 year, $173 million contract to stay in Los Angeles, saying “I want my legacy to be a Clipper.”
Translation, Los Angeles visibility and the playoffs without NBA finals pressure?

SF Giants Triple-A prospect Joan Gregorio, who had a 3.04 ERA with the Rivercats, has been suspended for the rest of the year for allegedly using a steroid. Really? The way the Giants are playing, wouldn’t you think this was the year prospects could make the team without help? #cantfixstupid

Worst part about new legalized marijuana in Las Vegas?  Hoping prices don’t double at the “all-you-can-eat” buffets.

A number of Red States, including Indiana and Wisconsin, are balking at giving the federal government the data the new Kobach-Pence-Trump voting commission wants.   When Red states say a GOP president is over the line, he’s REALLY over the line.

–

With all the  issues facing US, good to see Trump focused on important stuff, like name-calling “Crazy Joe Scarborough & dumb as a rock Mika” #WTF?

What happens if this Trump voting commission turns up lots of say, Wisconsin Republicans w/ winter homes in Florida who vote twice?

–

The Bronx doctor who allegedly shot seven people with an assault rifle before killing himself had been fired two years ago for accusations of sexual harassment. And the NY Daily News reports a coworker said “He promised to come back and kill us then.”
The guy still had no problem getting that gun. If only his coworkers had been armed.

–

And meanwhile 28 people were injured by gunfire in Little Rock night club. Apparently it started with a dispute between club-goers.  Police say there is no link to terrorism. Translation, average American men with guns. Move along again, nothing to see here.

And then to all those gun rights activists who think that it’s really a mental health problem more than a gun problem –  somehow I have missed the NRA protests over proposed cuts in mental health coverage under Trumpcare.

–
At least one dead besides the killer at a Bronx Hospital. The dead suspect had a past with multiple sexual harassment, abuse and other crimes. But he was just an angry man with a gun. Move along, nothing to see here.

Can we have a moment imagining the reaction if Obama had responded to his critics with same sort of insults & vitriol of Trump?

–

So now latest Trump scandal involves the National Enquirer. Enough to make us long for the days when their headlines were about Kardashians.

Open note to @realDonaldTrump voters, is there ANYTHING he could say or do to make you think it was mistake to elect him? #seriously

–

Okay, I cannot imagine the pain of losing a child. But Kate’s Law, which Trump is trumpeting as an example of saving American lives,  goes after immigrants who have been deported before, fair enough. What about those who have been killed by those who are repeat abusers, or drunk drivers, or simply those who have some sort of criminal history where they shouldn’t have had a gun…… their deaths don’t count?

–

(As one more aside, how about laws making it a FELONY to leave a gun in an car when tht gun is stolen and used in a crime.  The gun used in this poor woman’s death was stolen after being left in a car by a federal agent playing tourist in San Francisco.. the media never said for sure if the car was even locked.)

Macron invites Trump for BastilleDay Paris visit. Is PM trying to flatter US Pres, or reminding those who voted against him- could be worse.

–

Remembering those days when people were complaining that Bill Clinton’s behavior in a consensual sexual relationship with an adult intern  set such a bad example for children…

At what point do GOP leaders go from being disappointed, upset etc, w/ Trump’s behavior actually to DOING something? Asking for a country.

Following @JustinTrudeau is a good reminder of how a world leader should behave on Twitter. But sadly, as an American, he’s not ours.

–

So an open question to all these GOP leaders who keep excusing Trump’s behavior: Do any of you have daughters? Seriously.

–

Trump doesn’t seem to realize that nothing the so called “fake news” media can write will embarrass him as much as his own tweets.

–

Leaving aside all else that was wrong w/ his tweet, why does Trump think women bleed from face lifts? Is that what his wives have told him?

–

Will everyone stop saying how childish @realDonaldTrump tweets are? Most mothers would not let children get away with behaving like that.

–

Melania Trump’s communications director: “As First Lady has stated publicly…when her husband gets attacked, he will punch back 10 times harder.”
Two words “Stockholm syndrome.”

–

Just wondering, was “bleeding from a face lift” line result of @realDonaldTrump having had bad experience with plastic surgery in the past?

SF Giants  now have a winning streak. Hope this isn’t a sign of the apocalypse.

–

Cavs owner  owner Dan Gilbert crashed the Chicago Cubs White House photo-op with  Trump. Is Dan trying to get Lebron to give it a 2018 shot with Popovich and the Spurs.

–

Chris Paul heading to the Rockets. Celtics,  and Spurs are working on improving their lineups. Cavs trying to hold it together.  And about 25 NBA teams have been eliminated from championship consideration before preseason.

Jae-Gyun Hwang, after his first MLB home run, and his first post-game beer shower with SF Giants (through a translator) “There’s not such a thing in Korea, but I’ve gotten to know there is such a thing, personally, just a few minutes ago. I was actually more surprised about how cold the beer was.”
Yeah, Hwang could fit in just fine here. Has someone warned him about the mouse turds?

Cowboys DE David Irving is the latest to get a four game suspension from the NFL for violating their PED policy. And of course he says it was a mistake with an over-the-counter substance.

–

Right, unless those lives conflict with gun rights.  Or unless they depend on healthcare, especially women’s healthcare.

Well, and who would turn down a chance to have a backup QB with that kind of positive attitude in their locker room?

Inquiring SF Giants fans want to know.

–

SF Giants play “When the lights go down in the city” if team is ahead in 8th. Fans might be forgiven for wondering if it’s “Oldies night. ”

–

Meanwhile, NBA finally gets around to naming MVP,  Coach of the Year, etc.   Had some of those playoff series gone a bit longer have to wonder if they’d have had to have the ceremonies at halftime during preseason games.

Trump now accusing Obama of collusion in Russian election meddling that he said didn’t happen. #Whythereisnosatire

New provision in Trump care, not a mandate, but anyone uninsured for 64 days or more would have to wait 6 months for new insurance. So it’s simple, if you lose your job and can’t afford COBRA, don’t get sick.

–

But for those who get cancer or something else horrible –  in the name of removing the Obamacare mandate –  Live free AND die.

CBO Score says 22 million would become uninsured under Trumpcare. GOP disagrees, number will be much smaller as some of them will be dead.

Media complaining White House Press Conferences now “audio-only” No doubt Trump and Sean Spicer will respond by turning sound off.

John McEnroe – Serena Williams would be “about 700 on men’s tour.” Sounds like someone has wishful thoughts about a sequel to Riggs-King.

–

Of  course, right about now I’d put money on Serena, 7 or 8 months pregnant.  Or heck, she could probably dispatch him between contractions.

Right about now #SFGiants seriously need to recruit Crash Davis and Annie Savoy.

–

Hunter Pence is thrown out stealing second with the Giants down 2 runs,  in a first and third, two out situation with Belt up.  Joe Panik gets doubled off 2nd when Posey pops-out.  Takes lot of creativity to lose this consistently. #SFGiants

The Mets promoted Tim Tebow to their high-A , Port St. Lucie (Fla.) Minor League team. Alas for Tim, with this weekend’s series over it’s already too late in the year for him to have a chance of facing SFGiants pitching.

Adam Schiff says now that President Obama should have done more about Russian election hacking. Hindsight is 20-20, but remember, everyone thought Hillary was going to win easily, especially after the “pussy tapes.”
And with Donald Trump talking “rigged” election and not promising to accept the results, can we seriously think what would have happened if Obama came out and said Russia was trying to get Trump elected?

Lara Trump – “Republican Party is becoming the only party of tolerance here in the United States.” #nopunchlineneeded

Trump said Obama stole his “mean” term for the healthcare bill. How long until Trump claims he & not Al Gore invented the internet?

–

John McEnroe – Serena Williams would be “about 700 on men’s tour.” Sounds like someone has wishful thoughts about a sequel to Riggs-King.

Think a healthcare solution might be just to allow Trump to rename Obamacare “Trumpcare?” Then he might call it best in world.

From T.C.   “QB Vince Young has been placed on waivers by the CFL Saskatchewan Roughriders. In related news, Colin Kaepernick has Googled Saskatchewan.”

A travel ban over LGBT rights could affect California teams traveling to play colleges in eight states, especially in football. Now this could actually result in real change. What horror if the Alabama Crimson Tide couldn’t fatten up their record against teams like Fresno State.

Florida vs LSU for the College World Series title. Or did they schedule an SEC pre-season football game and not tell us?

#SFGiants advertising July 9 “Slumber Party on the Field” for fans. Alas team has been having slumber party on field all season.

–

They’d never remake Bull Durham with 2017 SF Giants Triple-A team. Anyone half-way  decent would be called up to the show mid-movie.

–

Losing Madison Bumgarner to a dirt bike injury certainly didn’t help the SF Giants this season. But pitchers don’t need to be dare-devils to end up on the DL. Rangers’ starter Martin Perez is on the DL with a broken fingertip after a “hotel door accident.” (Yes, he’s a lefty…. Paging Jeremy Affleldt.)

–

So did they schedule a preseason Redskins Browns game in DC and not warn us? #Nationals #Reds

(18-3 Washington was the final over Cincinnati.)

–

Lara Trump, Eric’s wife, upset about Johnny Depp’s (admittedly stupid) assassination joke. “Let’s be very clear: this has never happened in this capacity to any other president.”
Time for a new hashtag. #nopunchlineneeded

–

Mike Pence says that he & Trump support GOP version of Trumpcare. How long will ir be until either of them might actually read the bill?

–

If the Trumpcare/ GOP Healthcare bill is so good  why does #AmericaFirstPolicies,  a pro-Trump PAC, need to spend seriously big money on Twitter to pressure GOP Senator Heller to vote for it?

(the promoted hashtag, #Hellervoteyes)

If Trump DID “stand in middle of 5th Ave and shoot someone” not only would he not lose some voters, he and they would blame Obama.

An American tourist is in serious condition after being shot during a robbery in Turks and Caicos. Horrible thing to happen on vacation, but have to wonder why this is big time news. Easier to be randomly shot back here in the good old US of A.

#SFGiants had to play late night game in Atlanta, flew home to arrive after sunrise, played Mets Friday night.  So much for the zombie strategy.

Reality star Savannah Chrisley (who?) said on Instagram that she’s dating Luke Kennard, who was just drafted by the Detroit Pistons. Well, and dating reality stars has worked out so well for NBA players with the Kardashians.

Markelle Fultz, Philadelphia’s #1 draft pick, said he thinks the 76ers are now a playoff team. Well, in the Eastern Conference, all they need is to win about 30-40 of 82 games.

Three teenagers were handcuffed yesterday in DC by plainclothes police for selling bottled water without permits on the National Mall. Don’t think we have to guess their race. No charges were ultimately filed, but supposed the kids should be grateful they weren’t shot.

A woman complained on Yelp that that she found a dead frog in her salad at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in West Covina, California. Good thing she wasn’t in San Francisco. For the frog they’d have charged extra.

A Florida college student accused of stabbing a couple to death last year says he wants to “be a normal kid again.” The young man, then 19, not only killed them, he attacked a neighbor who tried to help, and chewed on one victim’s face. I believe that “normal” ship has sailed.

Week after the Virginia shooting,  Johnny Depp joked about assassinating Trump. And we thought his stupidest idea ever was making “Pirates of the Caribbean 5.”

–

Friday was #BringYourDogToWorkDay. GOP senators don’t need to do that, they already have the Trumpcare bill.

–

Trump said repeatedly “we’ll have to see,” about potentially firing Mueller. Translation “if he gets close to an indictment.”

-At his Iowa rally this week, Trump received cheers when he called for a new law barring immigrants from receiving welfare for at least five years. Okay, but Bill Clinton signed a law doing exactly that in 1996.
How long until Trump claims credit for the Civil Rights act? Or Social Security?

Open question to working class @realdonaldTrump voters – can you name 1 thing he’s done as President that actually benefits you?

–

Trump said he lied about tapes to keep Comey honest – Uh, that means everything the former FBI director said was true. #wtf?

From TC:    Trump took credit this week for building Panama Canal, which occurred over 100 years ago. If nobody challenges him then next week… Great Wall of China?

Cubs sending struggling World Series star Kyle Schwarber to Triple-A. Can #SFGiants do that with (almost) their entire team?

Trump has chosen a site for his big DC re-election fundraiser- the Trump hotel. “I’m shocked,” said nobody.

Trump finally says there are no tapes on day GOP Trumpcare abomination bill is revealed. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence.

In Feb. #Trump gave a jobs speech at Boeing in South Carolina. Today, plant announced they would lay off 200. Surely this is Obama’s fault

Trump announced Jamie McCourt, former co-owner of the Los Angeles will be the U.S. ambassador to Belgium. Hasn’t the country suffered enough?

So time for one of my serious comments : Darryl Hamilton was killed two years ago yesterday, June 22, 2015, shot in a murder-suicide by an estranged ex-girlfriend, the mother of his youngest son. She had pleaded guilty in 2008 to felony arson for burning her ex-husband’s house down in 2006… after trying to douse him in gasoline. She received 10 years probation, which prohibited her from having a gun, but a judge terminated it early in 2010, so the weapon she used was legal.

Didn’t know Hamilton that well, but he was in my experience a thoughtful, funny really nice guy who liked talking sports AND politics.  Adored his kids.  Didn’t always adore United Airlines, though he was good humored about it –  a fun and down to earth client.  He was liked, even beloved by others in baseball who knew him well.  And his ex was clearly a disturbed woman.

Laws don’t prevent all crimes. But in this country it is way too damned easy to get a gun. Period. #whenwillweeverlearn
