Ur-ine trouble now.

November 29, 2019

In Ole Miss-  Mississippi State “Egg Bowl” rivalry game,   an Ole Miss receiver caught a touchdown pass late in 4th quarter to pull the game to within 21-20.  He then got on his knees, lifted a leg, and pretended to urinate in the end-zone. The Rebels were given a 15 yard penalty and missed the potential game tying extra point.

What a pisser.

Cowboys Jerry Jones told reporters on coach Jason Garrett. “It would give us zero chance (for the Super Bowl) if we didn’t have him.”
As opposed to the zero chance Dallas has with him?

After Saints are done celebrating NFC South Championship think it is just possible Sean Payton may have some extra onside kick recovery practice.

(Falcons were down 31-18 and managed to recover  TWO,  actually three when one was reserved by a penalty, onside kicks in last four minutes of the game.)

At least 17 New England Patriots listed as questionable vs. Houston Texans Sunday, 10 with “flu-like” symptoms.

Well, this poses some interesting questions.  Primarily, so what kind of penalties will NFL refs have to call against the Texans to get Patriots a win THIS time?

Awful attack in London, but in this case, the bad guy with a knife, was really stopped by good guys without guns. Or any weapons.  Except their own courage.  (Then after civilians had taken down the attacking, British police ultimately fatally shot him.

And for all those saying it would have been different in the USA with armed bystanders. Yeah, probably several people whipping out guns and probably either shooting each other or MORE bystanders.

And this was the tweet from Larry the Cat, who lives at Downing Street.

Police officers, paramedics and members of the public made their way towards someone who was looking to do them harm, so that they could help others in need. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and mourn those not going home tonight. #LondonBridge
Is there some way to vote in Larry as Prime Minister?
Fox’s Pete Hegseth: Hong Kong Protesters Look at Trump and ‘They See Rocky Balboa’ Uh, except that Donald practically had to be forced to sign the pro-democracy legislation. Facts have a liberal bias.

Turkeys and other daze

November 28, 2019
A Thanksgiving thought. Thank you all for being my readers, even if we don’t always agree on politics, or sports, I’m grateful to have you all as part of my life. And actually, in many ways I especially appreciate the people I can have civil disagreements with! We are increasingly in bubbles and I actually think it’s good for the future of our country to have friends across the aisle, or the field as it may be.
Speaking of  which “Geaux Saints”

ESPN reports that the Cowboys will not fire Jason Garrett during the season. Especially I suppose since Dallas can NEVER in 2019 beat a team with a winning record, and still win the NFC East at 9-7. (No joke.)

Good news for Bears fans,  Mitch Trubisky, despite some shaky moments and an interception, threw 3 TD passes to lead now 6-6 Chicago to a 24-20 win over the 3-8-1 Detroit Lions.

Bad news for Bears fans,  Mitch Trubisky, despite some shaky moments and an interception, threw 3 TD passes to lead now 6-6 Chicago  to a 24-20 win over the 3-8-1 Detroit Lions.

After saying he might veto the measure Trump just signed legislation supporting pro-democracy Hong Kong protesters. I guess someone explained to the stable genius that 417-1 in the House and unanimous in Senate just might be a veto-proof majority.

If you want something politically  to be thankful about think about Trump trying to throw Rudy under the bus. And also both how vindictive Giuliani is and how much dirt he knows.

So did Trump really decide to leave New York when Macy’s wouldn’t let him float down Central Park West in the parade?

Would it be churlish to suggest that maybe Trump really went to Afghanistan on Thanksgiving because Air Force One serves his favorite junk food and Melania would have insisted on turkey at Mar-A-Lago?

No bull in Durham.

November 27, 2019

Stephen F. Austin beat No. 1 Duke 85-83 in Durham Tuesday night on a buzzer-beating layup. Two responses from most casual sports fans. 1. Wow. Duke lost at home? 2. Who does Stephen F. Austin play for?

Trump rally Tuesday night  in Sunrise, Florida. Well, on bright news for local NFL fans, at this point he can’t make the 2-9 Miami Dolphins much worse. #ETTD

A Saints fan decided the time was right in the Superdome last Sunday and took advantage of his girlfriend being distracted during New Orleans’ game-winning drive to give a nearby fan his phone and had her record his proposal while Will Lutz made the game winning kick.

Fortunately the kick went through and she said yes. Now that’s faith.  #WhoDat

Latest College Football Playoff Rankings.  Some controversy at the very top, but two SEC teams currently slated to make the playoffs. So for NCAA, all’s right with their world.

1. Ohio State (11-0)
2. LSU (11-0)
3. Clemson (11-0)
4. Georgia (10-1)
5. Alabama (10-1)
6. Utah (10-1)
7. Oklahoma (10-1)
8. Minnesota (10-1)
9. Baylor (10-1)

NFL now admits that BOTH tripping calls in New England Dallas game Sunday were wrong, one which came as Cowboys were driving towards a possible game winning score late in the fourth quarter.  Well, this ought to take care of many fans contention that Roger Goodell and the league are a wholly owned subsidiary of the Patriots.

Three games on NFL schedule Thursday, starting with 5-8 Bears vs 3-7-1 Lions. So looks like the Thanksgiving turkey will be served early this year.

So who had Nov 26 for the date when Trump would first throw Rudy Giuliani under the bus? #thoughtsandprayers

Trump during turkey pardon – “Democrats accusing me of being too soft on Turkey [pun intended]. But Bread & Butter…unlike previous witnesses, you & I have actually met… ” If we only had a President who didn’t forbid witnesses from testifying. Time to impeach Hillary?

A question for those who call themselves 100% pro-life on Dreamers?    If you demand a child be born even from rape or incest, because it wasn’t its fault to be conceived, how can you possibly demand children who were taken to the US be deported?

Whose fault?

November 26, 2019

The 0-11 Cincinnati Bengals have benched rookie QB Ryan Finley after 3 games, and are returning to Andy Dalton. In related news, the Bengals presumably will be replacing their sideline benches with deck chairs from the Titanic.

LeBron James says he gives “a lot of credit to the Spurs” for improving his 3-point shot, because of the way San Antonio beat his Cavaliers in 2007, and the scheme they used that forced him to learn how to shoot. Hmm, instead of giving credit, why didn’t he just sign to play with Pop?

Small consolation but Saints fans know that not even the refs could get Rams anywhere near the Super Bowl this year.

Saints coach Sean Payton now lobbying for replay review to be decided by 3 officials, instead of just 1. Payton also noted Canadian Football League uses group to decide its pass interference replays. Right, but if only NFL had as much money as the CFL…

In response to those who said Trump was “chosen by God,” is the USA now the nation equivalent of Job?

Supreme Court gave Trump an emergency stay on releasing his tax returns, but gave him a deadline of Dec 5. to file a brief. Will Donald hand-write his own brief by Sharpie?

So who figured Trump would be seen with any dog in White House. Bonus points for guessing he would use the dog to threaten the press? “It’s trained that if you open your mouths, you will be attacked. You want to be very, very careful.” #NotTheOnion

Judge ruled former White House counsel Don McGahn must testify in House of Representatives’ impeachment inquiry.
Well, aren’t Trump and his supporters claiming no one who actually has talked to Donald is testifying? So this should be a win-win.

Meghan McCain defending her friendship with Lindsey Graham, even though Lindsey is fighting with their friend Joe Biden, saying it’s “literally like watching family members go after each other.” “I think Trump appears to do weird things to people.” What was Meghan’s first clue?

Wait, seeing online shopping ads “Cyber Week starts now.” Except Cyber Monday isn’t supposed to be until NEXT Monday. Can we just declare all of November-December the new “Black Friday’ and be done with it?

Let’s make it simple. Democrats should agree to investigate Hunter Biden’s business dealings as thoroughly as we investigate those of the Trump spawn.

V is for what?

November 25, 2019

Washington QB Dwayne Haskins got distracted and somehow missed the final snap of yesterday’s win over Detroit because he was taking a selfie with a fan.

To, be fair, pretty sure as QB of 2019 Redskins, Haskins hadn’t done much practice of the “V for Victory” formation.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones said it was “pretty glaring as to why we couldn’t get it done” in going after coaching as a factor in the loss. And who wouldn’t want to take over from Jason Garrett in Dallas next year with that kind of support?

New Orleans somehow pulled that game out against Panthers yesterday.  But deep down didn’t we all know the first overturned non-call for defensive pass interference was going to go against the Saints?

So do Saints fans get a discount on all upcoming physicals because we’ve already had our cardiac stress test today?

Don’t look now, but NY Jets have won three games in a row.  Well, surely they can’t keep this up, so looking ahead…    Oh, next week Jets opponent the Cincinnati Bengals. Never mind.

“This Presidential race really needed Michael Bloomberg” said almost no one.

If Trump shot someone in middle of 5th Avenue now, GOP would claim the victim had committed suicide.

Richard Spencer is a Marine Corps Veteran and was nominated BY Trump as Secretary of the Navy. Today Donald made Richard resign because Spencer couldn’t accept a war criminal being reinstated to the Seals. Are we great yet?

I miss the days when trolls were cute little plastic dolls with long furry colored hair.

Used to say I was a Democrat but I voted for the person not the party. In the days when there WERE reasonable Republicans. (a couple at least on our city council.) But I don’t vote for cult members. #VoteBlueNoMatterWho2020

And in all seriousness,  anyone who’s read the Mueller report knows what Team Trump did before the election. And now after some impeachment hearings we know more of what they’ve done since. Imagine what they’ll do with a second term.

November 23, 2019

Well, to be fair Stanford should let Cal borrow the Axe once a decade. #BigGame

Pac 12 plays 1 more conference game than SEC & tends to avoid the real “little sisters of the poor” games. Today Oregon goes down by 3 to ASU in Tempe while Alabama wins by 63 at home against Western Carolina.
But yeah, get out violins if there aren’t 2 SEC teams in playoffs.

The NFL has issued 33 players a total of $732,422 in fines from the brawl at end of Steelers and Browns game. $732,422?!! That might be more than more than Cleveland gate receipts.

Meanwhile cure for the longest losing streak of Gregg Popovich’s time in San Antonio?  Play the Knicks.

Andrew Yang and his supporters are so upset over lack of coverage that they want to Boycott. MSNBC, Uh, maybe besides Yang spouting his own programs & theories Andrew could spend a little time actually supporting other Democrats running for local & state offices?

Reports that both secretary of the Navy and the admiral who leads the SEALs have threatened to resign or be fired if POTUS stops the expulsion of a commando from the elite unit convicted in a war crimes case.

If so, how long until Trump refers to the entire military leadership as “Never Trumpers?”

Now it’s Pompeo. Is there anyone in the Trump administration who isn’t dirty?

Not a problem I will have, but sharing this idea from my Twitter friend Tony Posnanski
“I will be changing my wifi password to “IMPEACH45” this Thursday so that my MAGA family members have to put that in their devices to have some of my delicious WiFi.”
Don Jr. is fundraising for his dad “Contribute $50 or more TODAY to claim your HAND-SIGNED copy of my new book TRIGGERED.”
If you donate more do you get to choose the color crayon?
It’s Saturday night, which means once again, Americans sadly playing the game “Is this the nightly news covering Trump or the SNL cold open?
Some part of me wonders if Trump pardoning all these war criminals isn’t just a pathetic way to continue trying to get back at Senator John McCain?

Circling dates on the calendar.

November 23, 2019

What a difference a year makes. In 2019 NBA teams were thrilled to see Warriors because it would increase ticket sales, this year they’re glad to see Golden State because it increases the chances of a win.

Lots of big rivalry games Saturday –   Cal vs. Stanford,  USC vs UCLA.  And some interesting match-ups with Ohio State vs Penn State,  and Baylor vs. Texas.  Even Boston College vs ND.  Meanwhile, Alabama, whose fans complain they should be in CFB playoff even with a loss, proves their strength of schedule by playing… Western Carolina?!!

Good news for Bears fans. QB Mitchell Trubisky, injured in Rams game Sunday night, has recovered enough to start against Giants Sunday. Bad news for Bears fans. QB Mitchell Trubisky, injured in Rams game Sunday night, has recovered enough to start against Giants Sunday.

Now Mike Bloomberg bought $31 million in ads, Tom Steyer
spent over $47 million in 1st 3 months of his campaign. That $$$ could flip Senate, or enough local races to make major dent in GOP gerrymandering.
Miss the old days when men bought Playboy to take care of fantasies

So as Sandusky was re-sentenced today (simply a technicality)  have to wonder, if he were a long-time Trump supporter, would Donald claim he didn’t know Jerry? Or that the accusations were “fake news?”

Wait, the same President who can’t find time to appear before the House Intelligence Committee can spend 53 minutes in a live interview ranting on Fox and Friends?

Right, the normal response to being accused of talking so loudly on a cellphone that everyone around can hear you is to have a phone in interview to Fox and Friends where you scream for almost an hour.

Per CNN “A lawyer for an indicted associate of Rudy Giuliani says his client is willing to tell Congress about meetings (Devin Nunes) the top Republican on the House Intelligence Committee had in Vienna last year with a former Ukrainian prosecutor to discuss digging up dirt on Joe Biden.”
At some point have to wonder how the buses run in DC with all these crooks throwing each other under them.

So will Devin  Nunes testify in his OWN defense? Or will he be too cowed?

An increasing number of Republicans say Trump has abused his Presidential powers but shouldn’t be impeached, in essence saying his crimes don’t matter. So is this how they raise their children?

It’s all relative.

November 21, 2019

RIP, Jake Burton Carpenter, 65, of cancer. Apparently Carpenter was known as the “soul of snowboarding.” Now 65 seems younger than it used to. But still hard to imagine that a pioneer snowboarder was that old.

Cowboys-Patriots tickets on Stubhub Sunday at Gillette Stadium  START at $236 plus fees. Meanwhile for Lions-Redskins tickets at Fed Exp Field the lowest price is $9.  Is Washington charging that or paying it?

To be fair, after a week watching Jim Jordan and Devin Nunes in the morning, it doesn’t seem QUITE as bad to listen to Joe Buck.

In 2020, bet on a spike in the number of baby girls in America born and named “Fiona.”

Meanwhile can anyone imagine how a woman member of Congress would be treated if she showed up dressed as sloppily and shouted as loudly as Jim Jordan?

Benjamin Netanyahu has just been indicted on bribery and fraud charges. Wonder if he will try to hire Jim Jordan to scream in his defense?

I’m so old I can remember when we didn’t have a President who referred to members of the other party as ‘human scum.”

Seriously? OANN, the network who Trump turns to when Fox News isn’t subservient enough is tweeting things “Why are there so many non-US-born people working in our Intel and State Department?” Uh, for that matter, why is POTUS sleeping with a non-US-born woman?

If Trump shot someone in the middle of 5th Avenue GOP House members on a jury would not just want the case dismissed, they’d want to file claims against the victim’s estate.

#LetTulsiSpeak is trending. Shouldn’t it be “Пусть говорит Тулси?”

Ivanka Trump tweeted ” A decline of public morals in the United States will probably be marked by the abuse of the power of impeachment as a means of crushing political adversaries or ejecting them from office.” Alexis de Tocqueville, 1835

Hey Ivanka, here’s a better Alexis de Tocqueville quote “The greatness of America lies not in being more enlightened than any other nation, but rather in her ability to repair her faults.”

Fault repair coming November 3, 2020.

All of these GOP House members bending over backwards to protect Trump. Aren’t they seeing in real time how Donald repays that loyalty when people are no longer useful to him?

Mighty fallen.

November 21, 2019

Who’d a thunk struggling NBA teams would be thinking this sentence in 2019? – “At least we’re not the Warriors.”

Steve Kerr after losing by 48 to the Mavericks tonight. With a few break we could have only lost by 42.

Must say, guessing no one has ever walked off a debate stage and sent an email to supporters saying “Please donate. I need it, because I had a really rough night.”

Several little intermissions in tonight’s Democratic Debate.  Did the older candidates need potty breaks?

Tulsi talked during debate about treating each other with respect. Right, starting with the respectful way Gabbard has talked about other Democrats?

As Biden reminded us these impeachment hearings focus on Trump trying to keep him from being the nominee, have to wonder, who else is Donald bribing and threatening people for dirt on?

Who had “punch” at domestic violence being Joe Biden’s first big gaffe of the night?

“Study the long term use of marijuana?” Joe Biden, seriously? Aren’t many baby boomers already a study in the long term use of marijuana?

Cory Booker to Joe Biden on not wanting to legalize marijuana “I thought you might have been high when you said it.”

Cory Booker to Pete Buttigieg,  “And I happen to be the other Rhodes scholar candidate on this stage.” Nice and true line.

(Interestingly enough, no woman could be a Rhodes scholar until 1977.)

Good on Kamala Harris for calling out Tulsi Gabbard for not really being a Democrat. Next will Kamala go after Bernie?

Every woman who’s ever been in the workplace or political arena who is watching debate tonight knows that Amy Klobuchar was right about gender.

Andrew Yang sticking up for Tom Steyer. How nice that the millionaire defends the billionaire.

Now it’s Mike Pompeo who is reportedly planning to resign, possibly to run for Senate. The Trumptanic lifeboats are filling up.

DNA results show Hunter Biden, 49, fathered a child born in August 2018, with a now 28 year old woman. Well, by modern GOP standards does this make Hunter if not Joe truly Presidential?

So Trump would use the Henry II defense except that one, he doesn’t know history. two, it didn’t really work for the King of England. “Will no one rid me of this turbulent Biden?”

Does listening to Jim Jordan give anyone else a headache?

How long until  Fox News decides to move away from the impeachment hearings and just show a retrospective on Hillary’s emails?

Wonder how many millennials are asking their parents about John Dean today?

Only one US Carrier to Brussels tonight from DC, United 950 leaving from Dulles. Imagining the flight attendant asking Ambassador Gordon Sondland “So would you like a drink before departure?”

Starting but not sticking to sports.

November 20, 2019

A bit of sports, seven interceptions for Philip Rivers in two games. If only there was a semi-competent free agent quarterback available for the Chargers.

Miami Dolphins waived RB Mark Walton for allegedly striking a woman who was pregnant with his baby.  Walton had served 2 of 4 game suspension for violating NFL conduct policy related to his THREE offseason arrests between January-March 2020.   The Dolphins had signed him after Bengals released him.

Miami GM Chris Grief “We hold our players to a high standard and take these matters very seriously.” And Grief said it with a straight face.

Donald and Melania Trump re-registered today to vote in Florida instead of New York. He does realize this means he needs to spend 50% or more of the year there, right, which is more than every winter?

WTF of the day? A movie studio exec apparently wanted Julia Roberts to play Harriet Tubman. So did an executive also want Denzel Washington to play Mr. Rogers?

A small point, but GOP seems so upset about Lt. Col Vindman testifying in his dress uniform, even though rules say says all personnel “will wear an Army uniform when on duty, unless granted an exception by the commander to wear civilian clothes.”
Now, who gave Jim Jordan an exemption to keep his jacket off?

Rewatching Lt. Colonel Alexander Vindman’s opening statement from Tuesday, who’s with me in wishing we had someone more like him as President?

Yes, Tom Steyer has put a lot of money into good causes. And now he says “I alone can fix it.” Not very often I think “If only someone were like the Koch Brothers.” But at least they were practical enough to use THEIR money to get other people elected.

One of the many bizarre things about the Ukraine deal. While Joe Biden was my first choice in 2016, he is not my first choice now, mostly for age-related reasons.
But whoever your candidate, is there really anyone on either side of aisle who really thinks Joe is in politics for money, and is anything other than a good and decent man?

Upon further review…

November 18, 2019

As increasing allegations of cheating emerge against Houston Astros, Trump may be thinking he invited the wrong team to the White House.

Four interceptions for Philip Rivers tonight against Chiefs… On a brighter note, since game was in Mexico City maybe the Chargers QB couldn’t understand all the heckling and insults.

Tom Brady says he is “frustrated” with the Patriots offense.  Fans of 29 other teams  -“Thoughts and prayers.”

Trump is holding his next vanity rally in Sunrise, Florida. And local sports fans are going “Okay, please just mention the Dolphins instead of the Heat. The Dolphins are already losers.” #ETTD

Walmart saying today’s “shooting was an isolated incident that occurred in the parking lot. Nothing occurred inside the store.” So just another day for our well-regulated militia.

Nikki Haley says Donald Trump was always truthful with her. Well, and guessing there were many people who said Jeffrey Dahmer never tried to eat them.

Wonder if Hillary Clinton had told Congress she would “strongly consider” testifying in the Benghazi investigation.

Since Trump loves to call them “Do Nothing Democrats” surely the man who claimed he’d run into a school unarmed to face a killer isn’t afraid to face House Democrats in a hearing?

Never quite got the hype, but today Chick-fil-A announced it will no longer donate to anti-LGBTQ groups. So good news for tolerance. And liberal fans of chicken sandwiches.

If your idea of Christianity is boycotting your favorite sandwich restaurant because they’re not being intolerant enough, you might not be a real Christian. #ChickFilA

North Korea ” We are longer interested in such talks that bring nothing to us. As we have got nothing in return, we will no longer gift the U.S. president with something he can brag about.”
But but, I thought Donald and Kim were in love?

Trump today said he would “strongly consider” accepting Pelosi’s invitation to testify in the ongoing impeachment investigation, either in person or in writing. Right after he releases his tax returns?

A numbers game.

November 18, 2019

Another example why I don’t bet on football. 49ers leading by 4 with 2 seconds left. Cardinals have ball at their own 22. Fumble recovery for a TD. . The spread was 10.

Not a Falcons fan at all, but are people in Atlanta thrilled about the way their team has played the last two weeks? Or furious that it took them until week 10 to show up?

Texans WR DeAndre Hopkins called for “someone new in New York deciding calls” after pretty obvious case of pass interference against Ravens Marlon Humphrey wasn’t called even after replay review. Uh, could we start with full time NFL refs?

Newly re-elected Louisiana John Bel Edwards will never be my favorite politician, but he has his moments “It is an easier state to govern when the Saints and LSU are winning.”

In the midst of Trump tweet storm this morning: “Our great Farmers will recieve another major round of “cash.”
Don’t know about you but I learned “I before E except after C” in 2nd or 3rd grade.

Former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg today apologized for his longtime support of “stop-and-frisk.” Gosh, I wonder what prompted this change of heart?

(and wonder if he will apologize to swing states for his soda tax ban?)

So Amy Klobuchar is still a longshot. But she has more chance of winning the Presidency than the Minnesota Vikings,, down 20-0 at halftime, had of winning Sunday against  Denver Broncos.

It was a pleasant cool Sunday in Washington DC, why wasn’t a “healthy and energetic” President golfing?

Jennifer Williams, who Trump attacked on Twitter Sunday for her testimony is an senior aide to Mike Pence. So why isn’t the Vice President standing up for his staff?

As Trump rants on Twitter about not knowing impeachment witnesses and the Dems interviewing only people who weren’t involved with his calls, your reminder that Donald won’t let anyone who HAS actually talked to him testify.

So how long does Trump have to stay out of sight before serious rumors start circulating about his “kidney surgery??

It’s not that we believe Trump and his true cult members would care about something as trivial as an oath, but that at least we would get to see them try to lie in real time.

Blew dat?

November 17, 2019

Trump went to Louisiana twice in two weeks to push his buddy Eddie Rispone for Governor, tweeted repeatedly Saturday, after saying  Friday night.   “You got to give me a big win, please. OK? OK?”

Another reason to root for New Orleans Saints. Results tonight from Orleans Parish: Republican Eddie Rispone – 13,041 votes. Democrat John Bel Edwards – 114,812 votes. Not a typo.  #WhoDat

Now it’s Golden State guard D’Angelo Russell who is out at least two weeks with a sprained right thumb. The Warriors aren’t just a team at this point ,they’re an NBA version of Survivor.

Baylor blew a 28-3 lead today in losing to Oklahoma 34-31. On a brighter note, Bears players have probably earned a 2nd look in NFL draft from the Atlanta Falcons.

Five people dead including three children in a murder-suicide in San Diego. Why can’t these a**holes do the suicide part first?

One of many rumors about Trump’s visit to Walter Reed today was that he had a heart attack. If so, how long can his staff keep him from bragging that it was the “BIGLIEST heart attack, much better than Bernie’s.”

Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards is anti-choice, which is difficult for me. But have never liked him more. Tonight after winning re-election: “As for the president, God bless his heart.”

Every time CNN  puts Rick Santorum on can they at least air the disclaimer that he lost his re-election campaign by 18 points?

And if you think you had a hard week, thoughts and prayers for SNL writers, who had to try to compress all the events of past several days into ONE cold open.

Asked about Trump’s twitter attacks while Ambassador Yovanowitch was testifying. GOP Rep.Elise Stefanik replied “We’re not here to talk about tweets.”
Even when those tweets were themselves an impeachable offense? #witnessintimidation

If this cellphone call with Sondland turns out to be the smoking gun in impeachment hearings, well, politics aside, maybe mean bitch Karma is one of us who are driven crazy by obnoxious people who talk loudly on their cellphones in restaurants.

Ugh, nobody does part of an annual physical early. Period. That’s why they call them annual physicals.

And I’m only 60, but at what point does a “routine physical” include cognitive testing? Asking for a country.

As Trump ranted about conviction of Roger Stone, your reminder that Stone was not convicted by House Democrats but by a JURY.

Finally,  if we told Jim Jordan that Donald Trump had been a college wrestler would Jordan finally stop trying to protect him?

November 15, 2019

Yikes, watching Steelers vs  Browns tonight on Thursday Night Football and a WWE fight broke out.

Although before Cleveland’s Miles Garrett hit Pittsburgh QB Mason Rudolph with his own helmet, the story of night might have been Rudolph’s performance putting Mike Tomlin rushing to Atlanta to see Colin Kaepernick’s workout Saturday.

Memphis just declared projected #1 NBA draft pick James Wiseman ineligible. So wonder where Wiseman will play to keep in shape before he ends up chosen by the Warriors?

Nothing against Deval Patrick, but you’re watching the Indy 500 you don’t get to go “Oh, none of those drivers is driving fast enough, I think I’ll jump in on lap 100.”

A little good news, Matt Bevin has conceded to Andy Beshear in Kentucky Gubernatorial Race. How long until Bevin accepts a job in Trump administration?

Kellyanne Conway, after Wolf Blitzer asked about her husband’s comments on Trump. “I think you embarrassed yourself and I’m embarrassed for you. This is CNN now?”
Actually the most embarrassing thing for CNN? Still having Kellyanne on the network.

Apparently today’s school shooter used every bullet in his handgun. Now, California has tough gun laws, imagine if he’d been able to get an automatic weapon….

Pence-“Administration will remain resolved to bring scourge of mass shootings to an end, we will not rest until we end this evil in our time & make our schools & communities safe again.” Translation, going to do absolutely nothing & hope outrage will die down before the next one.

As Trump rants about “Do Nothing Democrats” your reminder that Senate Republicans blocked even a VOTE on sensible bipartisan gun control bills

Rand Paul just said he’s considering forcing votes on motions in impeachment trial allowing Trump to bring his own witnesses, like Hunter Biden. Since “hearsay” is THE Republican defense, how about forcing some witnesses who WERE actually talking to Trump?

Small mercies,  Trump headed down to Louisiana for another vanity rally. Good thing for New Orleans that at least he didn’t go for a Saints game.  #ETTD

Trump referred tonight to “Radical Liberal John Bel Edwards.” “Radical Liberal?” Look, I really hope Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards gets re-elected, but in many ways he’s to the right of GOP Governors Charlie Baker and Larry Hogan.

Let’s make a deal?

November 13, 2019

Scott Boras isn’t happy about how long it took teams to sign his clients last year “I’m frustrated in the sense that the game has been hurt by it. Hurt by it in the sense that fans want [players to sign].”
Gosh, if Boras only didn’t demand salaries that only a handful of big-market teams can afford.

NFL now saying they will not provide the list of executives and coaches who will attend Colin Kaepernick’s workout Saturday.
Because league doesn’t want to incur the ire of fans of teams with lousy QBs who don’t show up?

Gape Kapler when introduced as new SF Giants Manager, said he wants to “to dig in a little bit more to really find out what the issues are, to find out why I have had some of those issues and why so far I have not been a popular hire…” This is not going to be a deep dive.

Now it’s Deval Patrick reportedly deciding to run for President. Uh, even the Bachelor/Bachelorette know you don’t start randomly adding people as you get down to the final roses.

Harrod’s in London is reserving Santa visits this Christmas to customers who have spent at least $2,500 .For that amount the only lap men want isn’t Santa but a lap dancer.

Real estate executive Toby MacFarlane was sentenced to six months in prison for in college admissions scandal. His daughter, who has already graduated from USC, had never played soccer when she wrote on her 2013 application essay “My parents have a hard time attending my soccer matches because our opponent’s parents are always making rude remarks about that number 8 player who plays without a care for her body or anyone else’s on the field. It is true that I can be a bit intense out there on the field.”
Sounds like the baby snake didn’t slither far from the tree.

Speaking of baby snakes, wonder  how many copies of  Donnie Jr’s book “Triggered” were paid for by our tax dollars. And how many were paid for in rubles?

Matt Bevin is touting so many outlandish conspiracy theories about why he lost Kentucky Governor’s race you almost think he’s auditioning to join Trump’s re-election campaign.

If only Gym Jordan had tried to protect wrestlers at Ohio State like he is trying to protect Donald Trump.

Mark Meadows “I think what happens is when we start to look at the facts, everybody has their impression of what truth is.”
So to GOP now, the truth is like science?

So Trump White House position that witnesses in impeachment hearings have never even spoken to POTUS, and anyone who has spoken to Donald will be prohibited from testifying. Got it.

I’ve clearly missed the GOP outrage over unqualified children of the President making big $$$ from foreign governments AND profiting off of U.S. taxpayers.

Bottom feeding?

Really, Farhan? As an SF Giants fan I was happy the team didn’t sign Chapman, or Osuna, even when the bullpen struggled. And I gave up on the 49ers when Eddie D “allegedly” sexually assaulted a waitress. Not quite that upset. Yet. But come on, Gabe Kapler? WTF?

So what’s next SF Giants? I hear former Houston assistant GM Brandon Taubman is available.

Colin Kaepernick is having a private workout for NFL teams on Saturday in Atlanta. Right about now Bears fans would let Kaep set a flag on fire at midfield if he could play better than Mitch Trubisky.

Top ranked Kentucky lost in men’s basketball tonight to….. Evansville? Can we blame this on Trump’s visit too.

Nothing against Yu Darvish, and if allegations are true what the Astros did with electronic sign stealing at Minute Maid Park was wrong. But Game 7 of 2017 World Series was in LOS ANGELES.

Seriously Facebook? I’m getting suggestions to join “Team Tom” for Tom Steyer?
While I’m “Vote Blue no Matter Who 2020,” it’s a very short list of candidates who are lower on my list than Tom.

Saw Stephen Miller trending and apparently it’s news that leaked emails show him to be a White Supremacist. Wouldn’t it be bigger news if leaked emails showed he wasn’t a White Supremacist?

Trump tweeted today. “Many of the people in DACA, no longer very young, are far from “angels.” Some are very tough, hardened criminals. President Obama said he had no legal right to sign order, but would anyway. If Supreme Court remedies with overturn, a deal will be made with Dems for them to stay!”
Not sure where to start with this…. but “some are very tough, hardened criminals” but “a deal will be made with Dems for them to stay.”?
Yet another sign of dementia – contradicting yourself in the SAME SENTENCE.

Mick Mulvaney says he will also defy House impeachment inquiry subpoena. So is WH Chief of Staff hoping to keep Trump from firing him before Christmas?

Nikki Haley declined to help Kelly and Tillerson when they told her were trying to save the country.
So one question, if Haley believed in Donald Trump so much why did she resign?

Mark Sanford is dropping out of the Presidential Race. So will he now lick his wounds by taking a long hike on the Appalachian Trail?

Politico reports that in hopes of shoring up evangelical base, Trump is considering an executive order to tie U.S. aid to other countries on how well they treat their religious minorities. At the same time he tries to expand his Muslim ban? Irony, your regular table is ready.

Undefeated, then there were none.

It took until last play of overtime, but Seattle Seahawks beat the previous undefeated SF 49ers.

1972 Miami Dolphins would be popping champagne if any of them were still awake.

If the Seahawks and 49ers have tied would Dolphins have popped champagne and kissed their sisters?

San Diego Padres, who haven’t made playoffs in 13 years, have gone back to their original brown and gold colors for uniforms.
Seattle Mariners, who haven’t made playoffs in 18 year, possible new slogan – “We s*ck, but our colors remain consistent.”

A class action lawsuit has been filed against Madonna, age 61, for changing her concert time in Miami on Tuesday, Dec. 17 from 8:30 p.m to 10:30 p.m. WTF? For her original fans 8:30 p.m. was already past their regular bedtimes.

Trump taking credit for lifting “the poll numbers of Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin by 19 points, he just misses….”
Amazed he didn’t say that showing up at World Series lifted up the Houston Astros by three games, they just lost…

Now that Sean Spicer has been voted off DWTS will Trump say he hardly knew the man?

On the other hand, Sean Spicer is eliminated from DWTS the very week after he gets Donald Trump’s Twitter endorsement #ETTD

Most Presidents go to Arlington Cemetery to lay a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier on Veteran’s Day. Anyone else think Trump went to NYC instead because he couldn’t do the walking involved at Arlington?

Trump says he’s moving to Florida and temperatures in the state projected to dip into 20s tomorrow night. Cue the “hell freezing over” jokes.

We can argue back and forth as Democrats whether or not Michael Bloomberg would be a good 2020 Presidential Candidate.
But one thing that is inarguable. The ONLY reason he can even entertain the thought of jumping into this marathon where other candidates have been running hard for a year or more is that he is a very very rich man.
Bloomberg is basically a billionaire version of Rosie Ruiz.

Just a thought, if John Kelly and Rex Tillerson tried to recruit Nikki Haley to resist the President and “save the country,” who else did they try to recruit? And what happened?

Nikki Haley declined to help Kelly and Tillerson when they told her were trying to save the country.
So one question, if Haley believed in Donald Trump so much why did she resign?

The man who slashed the “baby Trump’ balloon says he took a stand for good vs. evil and he’d do it again.
And you know what folks, he will vote next November.

Can’t smoke stupid?

November 11, 2019

Miami Heat suspended Dion Waiters 10 games without pay for conduct detrimental to the team after ESPN reports he had a ” “panic attack” on team’s flight after consuming a THC-infused edible, allegedly given to him by a teammate
So is the suspension for drug use, or stupidity (Eating a marijuana gummie or whatever before getting on a flight?)
And who gave it to him?

Maybe most of Saints team was out late last night at LSU victory parties?   Either that or someone should have told New Orleans today wasn’t a second bye week.

Alabama fans worried their team won’t get a chance to climb back into playoff picture with their remaining schedule. Especially with Crimson Tide having scheduled such non-conference powerhouse opponents as Western Carolina.

Senator Amy Klobuchar is rising in polls and has a serious chance for the Democratic Presidential nomination? Right, that’s as likely as the Minnesota Golden Gophers football team being 9-0.

Trump showed up in Alabama on Saturday and Crimson Tide lost for the 1st time in 4 years at home. Now, on Wednesday Donald WAS in Louisiana. Can we blame Saints loss on him too?

Seriously, anyone notice that Trump has been going to sporting events lately on the weekend instead of golfing? One symptom of Alzheimer’s, or vascular dementia, IS balance issues.

Neil Young’s US citizenship application has been delayed over “moral character” issues because Young has admitted to smoking marijuana. If only Neil had just grabbed women by the p*ssy?

Bushfires in New South Wales have resulted in a worst ever “catastrophic” fire warning for the greater Sydney region,.
How long until Trump attacks Australia and threatens to withhold aid for not raking their forests?

Trump is tweeting support of Nikki Haley’s book. Anyone believe he actually read it?

If Barack Obama on  Twitter had regularly promoted the books and TV shows of his supporters GOP would have impeached him over emoluments clause and Hatch act.

First Alabama loss at home in 31 games. I missed the Trump tweet taking credit.

Alabama hadn’t lost at home in 4 years. Millions of football fans across America are now hoping Trump decides to attend an NFL playoff game  with his buddy Robert Kraft in Foxborough, Mass.

Illinois trailed 31-10 entering fourth quarter against Michigan State. And the Illini won 37-34.
On the brighter side for the Spartans, their players increased their chances of being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons..

29-23 Baylor over TCU doesn’t sound like that bad a game until you realize neither team scored a TD in regulation.

(The score after regulation was 9-9, each team scored 3 TDs.)

Ohio State Heisman candidate Chase Young reportedly will be suspended over a loan from a family friend. The suspension will be for last four games of regular season. Because rules are rules, but they should never get in the way of ESPN and College Football Playoffs.

Amtrak apparently quietly introduced new ticket rules this year that won’t let passengers sue in a crash.  It’s tough to make US airlines look but give Amtrak credit.

One nice thing about being a West Coast Democrat and a sports fan these days is that when you wake up on weekend mornings, especially Saturdays,  there are at least football scores as opposed just to “What did Trump do now?”

So if we promise that Putin will make sure he doesn’t get booed at hockey games, maybe Trump might move to Moscow?

Trump was predominately cheered at LSU vs Alabama game today. Well, suppose it makes sense, that Venn Diagram between the South and those who could afford to get into the game.

Biden’s response when told Donald Trump was thinking of going to Russia’s May Day event in 2020 “Are you serious. You’re kidding me. Are you joking?”

Yet another episode in “Is it Trump or is it Satire?

Follow the money..

Wonder how many millions, or billions, might be waged on LSU-Alabama football game tomorrow.  As long as fans don’t do anything illegal, like buy a player dinner.

NCAA just ruled Memphis freshman James Wiseman, projected as #1 2020 NBA draft pick, ineligible because Penny Hardaway gave his family $11,500 towards moving expenses.
Sad for Memphis. But maybe Wiseman can find some good pickup games to keep in shape before being drafted next June by the Warriors.

Ohio State Heisman contender has to sit out against Maryland “due to a possible NCAA issue” of accepting “a loan from a family friend.”
Are we sure Urban Meyer isn’t somehow involved?

Now reports that Steph Curry’s broken hand might keep him out all season. Forget bobbleheads, how long until the newest Warriors Chase Center giveaway is a toy tank?

Still think your vote doesn’t matter? In the race for San Francisco District Attorney, the current margin for the leader is 156 votes.

Facebook says it is deleting mentions of the potential whistleblower’s name for violating their “coordinating harm policy,” which prohibits material that could identify a “witness, informant, or activist.”
Uh, so why did they allow the name to be posted in the first place.

Bill Clinton has a consensual physical relationship with an adult woman & GOP tries to impeach him.
Jim Jordan is accused by multiple people of ignoring sexual abuse of college students by a coach & GOP puts him on the intelligence committee.

Stephen Miller is engaged. The couple is registered at “Bed, Bath and Beyond Common Decency.”

Nikki Haley defending Trump “You’re going to impeach a president for asking for a favor that didn’t happen and – and giving money and it wasn’t withheld?”
If only Donald had done something really impeachable like cheat on his wife. Oh wait, never mind.

Trump says he is thinking of accepting Putin’s invitation to the May Day parade in Moscow. Kamala Harris tweeted “Always nice to spend time with supporters on the campaign trail.”
More like checking in with the boss.

Your reminder question, how many people have to be lying for
Donald Trump to be telling the truth?
