Spa-spy gate?

April 3, 2019

Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s lawyers are defending him by saying officers videotaped him at Orchids of Asia spa illegally.  #WhyThereIsNoSatire

Gregg Popovich was ejected 63 seconds into Spurs game in Denver tonight, which Nuggets won 113-85. Sounds like Pop knew when to get out while the getting was good.

Phrase I would be happy NEVER to hear again. “The strike zone is getting smaller in the later innings.”

SF Giants have not exactly stormed out of the gate in 2019.
But six games in they do have one more win than World Champion Boston Red Sox.

Lakers owner Jeanie Buss didn’t answer a question this week about Luke Walton’s future with the team. So has Lebron taken down yet ANOTHER coach?

If wind causes cancer then gun violence in Chicago isn’t close to their biggest health crisis.

Lots of cheering fans for Lori Loughlin when she arrived for her first court appearance over allegedly bribing and cheating to get her daughters into college.
Just guessing none of those folks cheering her have kids who got turned down from USC recently.

Doris Day just turned 97. Millions of Americans going “Wow. Doris Day is still alive?!”

Have to wonder if Donald Trump is now seriously hurting Biden and Sanders’ chances by causing Americans to think seriously about old men and dementia.

Paul Ryan claims he offered Alexandria Osacio-Cortez advice and she “didn’t listen to a thing” he said. My estimation of AOC’s intelligence just went up.

While Pete Buttigieg is young, some part of me is wondering if maybe these days we need a 37-yr old candidate because they’ll have less past for everyone to rake them over the coals about….

So with revelations that Jared Kushner was “Official #1” who originally had his security clearance denied, along with story some of Mueller’s team are publicly questioning Barr’s summary of the Special Counsel report,  Fox News breaking headline “Biden accuser D.J. Hill describes encounter with former VP on Fox News tonight.”

Trump today “I was never planning a vote prior to the 2020 Election on the wonderful HealthCare package that some very talented people are now developing for me & the Republican Party. It will be on full display during the Election as a much better & less expensive alternative to ObamaCare…”
Uh, if you have such very talented people, why didn’t they come up with it when GOP controlled Senate AND House?

Outta here

April 2, 2019

If Bumgarner does resign with SF Giants guessing he’ll have a partial no-trade clause. As in no trades to the American League.

SF Giants, down 6-2 going to 9th, staged comeback that left them just one run short in 6-5 loss to Dodgers. But Giants  still have one more win than World Champion Red Sox. And Boston is still paying Pablo Sandoval’s salary. Just saying.

Welcome Kevin Pillar, 30 to SF.  Until this am  Pillar was the longest active tenured Blue Jay. Wonder how he feels about sea gulls?

NBA Wizards just fired team president Ernie Grunfeld. So it IS possible to fire a President in Washington.

Dodger fan is on life-support after an altercation in parking lot last weekend, and family lawyer is critical of the team’s security. Well, and who would have thought there was a problem. Seriously.

White House spokesman Hogan Gidley today twice referred to Puerto Rico as “that country.” Waiting for Fox News to tell us it’s THREE countries.

If Trump DOES close Southern Border this week, what happens to all the kids down there on Spring Break?

Trump today again falsely claimed his father Fred, who was born in New York, was born in Germany. We’re going to need to start a new game “Lie – or Dementia?”

Trump tonight in speech : “If you have a windmill anywhere near your house, congratulations, your house just went down 75% in value. And they say the noise causes cancer.”

Who knew? Add “The Netherlands” to the list on Trump insult bingo

So how long until Trump declares National Emergency to build a wall to keep wind out?

US Secret Service arrested and charged a Chinese  woman citizen with making false statements to law enforcement and entering Mar-A-Lago with a thumb drive containing malicious software.

Scary, but I’m more scared about  Mar-A-Lago visitors the Secret Service DIDN’T catch.

Anyone but me sometimes wonder if Donald Trump is really just tired of being President and is trying to provoke a face-saving way out?

No 0 for 162

April 1, 2019

Four games into the regular season and no team has a zero in the win column. How many months does that sometimes take in NFL?

Do not adjust your set. SF Giants have four runs. Tonight. In one game. #BeatLA

So are they still playing the Final Four next week now that Duke’s been eliminated?

ESPN reporting Kentucky has offered basketball coach John Calipari a lifetime contract. Does the contract get vacated the next time one of his team’s seasons gets vacated?

Nonpolitical controversial thought of the day. I like replay in sports, seems no reason not to get the call right when we can all see it at home.
But, if I were in charge, you get 60 seconds. If it isn’t obvious in 60 seconds, the call stands. It was close enough.
(And yes, the Rams-Saints call would have taken 10 seconds. #StillNotOverIt  🙂 )

Kamala Harris has raised $12 million,  Pete Buttigieg has raised $7 million.  And media is of course most excited about Pete.  But there’s no gender bias in politics.

$7 million isn’t bad. But why are any women shocked men are acting like Buttigieg’s $7 million is more than it is.
Millions, inches…. what’s the difference?

Meanwhile Florida Senaor Rick Scott looks to be Trump’s point man in the Senate on Healthcare reform.  Right, the same Rick Scott who made his money to enter politics as head of Columbia-HCA.   The company that paid $1.7 BILLION in fines for felony Medicare fraud during his tenure. No joke. It would be funny if peoples’ lives weren’t at stake.

Fox News is taking time from their usual State-TV pro-Trump message for banner headlines like “Another Biden accuser comes forward.”
#WhyThereIsNoSatire

Imagine if the same woman ever accused both a Democrat and Donald Trump of sexual harassment. Fox News heads would explode trying to spin it.

Senate couldn’t get bill passed for disaster relief because GOP wouldn’t include $600 million for Puerto Rico. Well, come on, that’s probably a year’s worth of Trump golf outings.

If Mueller REALLY exonerated Trump, Donald would have been tweeting the report out line by line since it was filed.

Belated madness.

March 31, 2019

While all #1 seeds made it to Sweet Sixteen, the only #1 seed left in NCAA’s men’s basketball tournament is Virginia, the #1 seed who was the first two be bounced by a #16 seed last year. Just like we all predicted.

Blue Devil players look devastated after loss to MSU today. Well, and to be fair, playing at Duke probably has been some of best months of their lives.

Chicago Cubs bullpen has an ERA over 10.00 in first three games. SF Giants have scored five runs in four games. Almost a shame Cubs don’t play Giants soon… in the “something”s gotta give” category.

At least we DO know SF Giants are not going to go 0-162.

Andrew Luck married his longtime girlfriend this weekend in Prague. Congratulations to both of them. But as a mom can I hope he trimmed his beard for the ceremony and pictures?

Not that I can program it but thinking a million-dollar app might be one that on the last calendar day of ANY quarter automatically blocks all political fundraising emails.

Rolling Stones have postponed US tour due to health problems involving Mick Jagger. What, doctors are afraid his fans might break something jumping up and down at this point?

As a travel agent can’t wait for Monday now when clients ask me which is my favorite Mexican country?

Trump says closing the border is “going to be a profit-making operation.”. Right. Like Mexico was going to pay for the wall.

But who was going to pay?  North Mexico? South Mexico? East Mexico or West Mexico?   This is SO confusing.

Kellyanne Conway on Fox News this am, trashing Joe Biden, “I think (he) has a big problem here because he calls it affection and handshakes, his party calls it completely inappropriate…”
Some statements don’t even need a punchline.

Is Joe Biden my 1st choice for 2020? No. Am I against sexual harassment?. Yes. Do I believe Biden has cheated on either his of his wives or ever deliberately sexually harassed anyone. Also no.

It’s a start.

March 29, 2019

The Giants Score A Run! The Giants Score A Run!

And SF Giants after 2 games do have 1/3 as many home runs at Paul Goldschmidt did in one night.

I love Renel Brooks-Moon, but she is NOT as NBC Sports Bay Area tonight said “the first woman baseball PA announcer.” Sherry Davis was that. #SFGiants

Anyone else beginning to think God has Duke in His or Her March Madness brackets?

That moment when you say “Who’d have imagined that Auburn could beat UNC. And then you remember filling out that cat bracket.

Warriors forward Jordan Bell got suspended one game for “charging a candle to assistant coach Mike Brown’s hotel bill.” He has apologized and said it was intended to be “funny.”
Two thoughts – 1. To earn a suspension, it must have been a heck of a fancy candle 2. Good thing Bell is better at basketball than he is at comedy.

Greg Schiano just resigned from Patriots, saying he wants to spend more time on his “faith and family.” So let’s see a revelation from Penn State or Ohio State days? Or who has “something new and different” in the pool?

Yet another tourist fell while trying to take a picture and getting too close to the rim of the Grand Canyon.
Maybe they should change the warning signs to something saying “Darwin Awards available here.”

Crowds at Trump’s Michigan rally last night joined in a chant of “AOC sucks.”  Melania’s “Be Best” campaign is working SO well.

Trump says he’s going to close Southern border next week unless Mexico stops ALL illegal immigration. So how’s that “Space Wall” going to work with airplanes?

It’s such an “national emergency” that Trump says “it’s likely he’ll be closing the Southern border next week.  But first he needed to start his golf weekend early this afternoon.

So what happens when someone explains to Trump what “does not exonerate him” means?

Donald Trump in Michigan tonight, on wind power “If it doesn’t blow, you can forget about television for that night. I know a lot about wind.” Wind? No. Hot air. Definitely.

From my funny friend Alex Kaseberg, on actor Jussie Smollett’s big week: “He had his 16 charges of staging a hate crime dropped. And today he was accepted to UCLA on a women’s soccer scholarship.”

Opening daze

March 28, 2019

Three of the nicest words in the English language “Baseball is back!” Happy Opening Day.

So SF Giants did get shut out on Opening Day in San Diego. On a brighter note, they didn’t get no-hit. #smallmercies

Meanwhile Bryce Harper went 0-3 in his Phillies debut. So maybe Giants fans can console themselves – signing him wouldn’t have helped?

Meanwhile Dodgers hit eight home runs in their opening day game.  Begging the question, by the time Los Angeles comes to AT&T Park on April 29, will SF have hit 8 home runs by then?

Texas Tech 24. Michigan 16 at halftime. Did NCAA not tell us preseason was starting early for football?

Seriously though, four teams tonight scored under 60 points and one of those teams actually won. Thinking not only are these one-and-dones not going to class, they’re not learning to shoot a basketball either.

Trump says no man has been better for Puerto Rico than he has. He could be right. Having no US president during hurricane couldn’t have been worse.

Winning $768 million Powerball ticket sold in New Berlin, Wisconsin. Wonder what winner will do with money, after moving out of New Berlin, Wisconsin?

On a brighter note Donald Trump did say now Special Olympics WILL be funded by his administration. How long until he blames Democrats and takes credit for saving it.

Trump is as ready with a replacement for Obamacare as he is ready to release his tax returns.

Jared Kushner today talking to Senate Intelligence Committee. This might be the first time “Jared Kushner” and “Intelligence” have been used in the same sentence.

Too early to predict if Cory Booker will be Democratic nominee in 2020 – but how nice to hear positive adult town hall last night with policy ideas instead of another bullying Trump  ranting rally.

Mueller’s report is more than 300 pages. Which means judging it on Barr’s four-page letter is like judging Harry Potter by the jacket blurb…written by Voldemort.

Play ball

March 27, 2019

All the craziness in the US won’t go away this morning. On the other hand, it will be Opening Day. So all will be righter with the world.

We all know real reason that Trump won’t throw out first pitch for Nationals Thursday. Game will be televised & we’d all see he wouldn’t be able to get baseball to home plate.

As we approach MLB Opening Day, odds for  Baltimore Orioles to win World Series range from 1,000 to 2,000 to 1. “So you are saying there’s a chance.

AAF is threatening to fold.
And millions of Americans are going “The what?”

Betsy DeVos is slamming media claiming they “spun up falsehoods and fully misrepresented the facts” about her cuts, but then said she DOES favor eliminating Special Olympics funding because it enjoys “robust support from private donations.”
Some wondered why Trump appointed Betsy, now thinking if she were younger and prettier he would have married her.

And who’d a thunk we’d miss “thousand points of light?”

Cory Booker –  “I would rather hang out with a nice atheist than a mean Christian any day of the week.”

My sense is Jesus would agree.

A President who can’t resist retweeting even the least respected sources when they praise him would have already released entire Mueller report if it exonerated him. Period.

Wait a minute, Mike Pence talking today how “the first woman and the next man on the moon will be American.” Uh, wait, and how would they be able to go into the Lunar module and for a moon walk together without chaperones. Does Mother know?

How will we really know when Trump figures out how badly he miscalculated on getting rid of the ACA? There’ll be another caravan.

Just a bit of a different reaction from Lin Manuel to Pete’s husband than to VP Pence.

Saints be praised.

March 27, 2019

For at least the 2019 season, pass interference — both offensive and defensive — will be reviewable.

And as a friend says, wanna bet the first call goes against New Orleans?

Though, seriously, as much as sports is serious, this from ESPN “NFL’s internal analysis also examined the impact of pass interference fouls that were later graded to be incorrect by the league’s officiating department. Between 2016 and 2018, 10.5 percent of incorrect calls were for defensive pass interference. But 24 of those plays ranked among the top 50 in impact on win probability. In other words, 10.5 percent of all incorrect calls represented nearly 50 percent of the incorrect calls that most hindered (or helped) a team’s chances to win.”

NFL coaches voted 32-0 to expand replay coverage to allow some non-calls to be reviewed.
Heck, even Sean McVay figures next time it might happen to his Rams.

And in the owners vote, only Cincinnati voted against it. Because the Bengals can’t imagine getting close enough to another Super Bowl for it to matter?

Four tweets from Trump this morning about Washington Capitals and captain Alex Ovechkin’s Stanley Cup Championship visit to White House. Well to be fair, this is only the second time a team in the Oval Office has been led by a Russian.

Pablo Sandoval’s last AB for SF Giants better not be that silly strikeout in pouring rain. Just saying.

SF Giants are not sold out for Opening Day next Friday. Who’d a thunk fans wouldn’t pay sky-high “dynamic pricing” for tickets to watch that traditional rivalry between the Giants and… Tampa Bay Rays?

Robert Kraft is pleading not guilty for soliciting prostitution, and wants a jury trial. He does realize that, even without upcoming NFL rule change, that DOES mean video review?

Betsy DeVos, defending her proposed $18 million cuts to Special Olympics “We had to make some difficult decisions.”
Well, yeah, $18 million per, Government Accountability Office, WILL pay for about five Trump Mar-A-Lago golf weekends.

Mike Pence has announced goal of putting a man on the moon by 2024. Building that bridge to the 20th century?

“Be calm. Take a deep breath. Don’t become like them. (The GOP.) We have to handle this handle this professionally, officially, patriotically, strategically.
Let’s just get the goods.”
Nancy Pelosi to Democratic caucus this am.   You Go Girl..

Meanwhile seems pretty clear, Trump will publicly claim he wants things released, but privately tell Barr & GOP “Will no one rid me of this meddlesome report?”#ReleaseTheFullMuellerReport

Moving on?

March 25, 2019

NFL will forgo usual opening-night matchup in which Super Bowl winner hosts Thursday Night Football, and instead open with Packers-Bears.
Is this league’s way of admitting Saints were robbed?

Gronkowski’s agent said today Rob “is still a very young man. It wouldn’t shock me if he has a change of heart” on retirement.
“The first time is the hardest” responded Brett Favre.

Rainy sixth inning of a 1-0 Spring Training. Monday night game between SF Giants and Oakland As….. And everyone left in the stands should get a free baseball or something. All ten of them.

NY Mets, after finishing Florida Spring Training, chose to have final preseason workouts in Syracuse, where they have new Triple-A affiliate. Noah Syndergaard & others were not amused; thinking it would be much easier on team to return to New York City before Thurs. opener in DC against Nationals.
It’s below freezing in Syracuse, team plane is delayed several hours, and won’t arrive until midnight.
This could be most Mets way to start a season ever.

Anheuser-Busch and MillerCoors have both donated about 100,000 cans of drinking water to flooded communities in Iowa and Nebraska. Good for them. But Must. Not. Make. Bud. Light. And. Coors. Light. Jokes.

Yale has rescinded admission of a student whose family paid $1.2 million to get her in. Wonder if they get their money back.

Gosh, Fox News website even finds room for poisonous baby toads story in Florida but isn’t covering Trump administration now trying to strike down ALL the Affordable Care Act. Guess it’s not like Republicans have pre-existing conditions?

Let’s be VERY clear here. GOP and Trump administration are trying to outlaw abortion as early as 6 weeks, before a woman might know she is pregnant, as well as in cases where the fetus has no chance to survive more than a few days.
But as to pre-natal care, or ICU costs for a severely-disabled dying baby, well, then we’re on our own.
Once again, pro-life my ass.

Your reminder, nobody claimed Richard Nixon burglarized Watergate himself; the House voted to impeach for obstruction of justice, abuse of power, and contempt of Congress.

So a President, a lawyer and a porn star walk into a bar. And the porn star is the only one who isn’t a punch line.

Talking about the Mueller Report when we’ve only seen the Barr Letter is like reviewing a movie when you’ve only seen the trailer!

MLK -“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” I believe that, but can it shorten up a little now?

Round and round the rim we go…

March 24, 2019

Never been so bummed NOT to have my bracket busted  – with Duke UCF game.

Those last shots UCF came so close to going in, have to wonder if God had Duke in his/her bracket.

LeBron James had his 8th triple-double of the season tonight, and said, “I know we’re out the playoff race, but if I’m on the court I’m going to play how I play, and I play to win. So, I will never cheat the game. There’s such a thing called ‘game gods.’ And they’re watching no matter what you’re doing, and it’s our obligation to go out and be a professional, and that’s what I’m about.”

If the “game gods” are “watching no matter what you’re doing” presume they were also watching when James tried to dump most of his team and get Anthony Davis?

Noah Syndergaard is criticizing NY’s contract talks with Jacob deGrom and complaining that team will stop in Syracuse after Spring Training, instead of New York City, to workout before Opening Day.
So season hasn’t started yet and already Mets are in midseason form.

Jim Jordan speaking for GOP this morning because, hey, if you’ll turn a blind eye to sexual abuse of young men, you’ll have no problem ignoring obstruction of justice.

Dr.Dre brags “My daughter got accepted into USC all on her own. No jail time! And I’m sure the $70 MILLION donation Dre made six years ago had nothing to do with it.

And why would anyone doubt Mueller Report interpretation of the AG that Trump installed because Jeff Sessions wasn’t enough of a toady.

Trump fundraising email already. “the Mueller Report proves what I have been saying since Day One: NO COLLUSION, NO OBSTRUCTION — COMPLETE EXONERATION.”
Fine, go ahead, release the report.

Trump is apparently thrilled with Barr’s statement on Mueller report. Quick, can someone ask Donald publicly while he’s in a good mood about releasing ENTIRE report to make him look even better?

While we wait for the release of actual Mueller report instead of the Barr letter, why aren’t people focusing on fact that even Barr doesn’t deny that the report confirms that Russia was actively interfering in our election on Trump’s behalf?

Mueller did not leak. Mueller report WILL leak. Period.

Slipper slipper, who’s got a slipper?

March 23, 2019

Sweet Sixteen almost halfway set, and no team higher than a 5 seed is in. So has Cinderella chosen spring break over March Madness?

LSU’s Tremont Waters won game for the Tigers against Maryland with a great shot with 1.6 seconds left. Although replays showed he clearly traveled. Maybe it was just Waters’ way of proving he is NBA ready.

Last night  San Antonio Spurs  had come back from 19 points down on the road to take a 6 point lead with 4 minutes remaining against Rockets,  and James Harden went on a tear to end up with 61 points in a Houston win.

Tonight Steph Curry took the night off and the Warriors lost by 35, at home to Dallas?   Maybe this is Steve Kerr’s way of suggesting Curry is the league’s real MVP?

Robert Kraft has released a statement saying he is “truly sorry,” but still won’t accept a plea for the standard wrist slap given to men arrested for soliciting prostitution.
And NFL complains sometimes that players need to take responsibility.

Robert Kraft apparently feels he is not guilty because he thinks he didn’t commit a crime in paying for sex. And in truth, prostitution is legal in many places. So why isn’t Kraft also leading the fight on behalf of NFL players suspended for smoking marijuana?

Over 2 million survivors of California wildfires and Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria had personal information accidentally released by FEMA, including names, addresses, birthdays, bank names, transfer and transit numbers.
Waiting for Trump to say that recently resigned FEMA administrator Brock Long did a “heckuva job.”

So the “witch” in this witch hunt has been silent all day on Twitter. Maybe Mueller Report really poured water on him?

Thoughts for the night.
1. Everyone thinks they know what’s in Mueller Report
2. Unless you’ve actually worked on the report with Mueller you have no clue.
Everybody exhale.

Beginning madness…

March 23, 2019

When former Duke star & eventual asst coach Johnny Dawkins became Stanford head coach, his son Aubrey soon started at Palo Alto High School. Tonight Johnny, now head coach at UCF, with Aubrey on team, won 1st round March Madness for the Knights against VCU.   Good for them both.

And wait. I thought West Coast college basketball, except for Gonzaga was supposed to be awful this year.  #Washington.

In particular, guessing UC Irvine stores are about to sell out of anteater merchandise.

uke and UNC watch the Virginia vs  GardnerWebb game and decide that as a one seed in 1st round you only need to show up in 2nd half?

Washington Capitals goalie Braden Holtby not going to White House for Stanley Cup championship visit. “I have to stay true to my values. I’m going to respectfully decline the offer.” Waiting for Trump to say “Who needs a goalie anyway?”

Robert Kraft was caught on video tape, TWICE, paying a woman for sex acts. But doesn’t want to accept lenient plea deal that involves admitting guilt. I liked ‘I had no idea those footballs were deflated” better.

Trump has a problem. Now General Motors says they are going to hire 400 workers at a plant north of Detroit. But to build more ELECTRIC cars. Does he applaud? Or condemn them for harming his beloved oil industry?

Steve King, bragging about Iowans being resilient and helping each other after recent floods, which killed three people in Nebraska and Iowa  –  “We go to a place like New Orleans, and everybody’s looking around saying, ‘Who’s going to help me? ”

Uh, 1833 people weren’t looking around saying “Who’s going to help me,” because they were, you know, dead.  #Katrina

Anyone on social media please take a chill pill on Mueller report until we find out what’s in it. At this only definite thing is that we WILL find out what’s in it. Mueller’s investigation was only thing in DC that didn’t leak.

Some Trump fans saying Mueller Report would vindicate him. Okay, fine, then release the report. ALL of it.

Start your madness?

March 21, 2019

So it begins – 64 challengers down to 1. Non-sports fans might be forgiven to wonder if March Madness is latest name for the 2020 Democratic primary.

Think if you claim credit for a March Madness bracket upset you should at least, without Google, be able to identify where the school you picked is located.

Most exciting ending of kind of meh March Madness day one was New Mexico State down two at end of game and passing up easy game-tying layup against Auburn in favor of a potential game winning three. The guy got fouled. then missed 2 of 3 foul shots. A buzzer non-beater?

Most impressive upset so far, #12 Murray State easily handling  #5 Marquette. Oh please oh please can someone ask Donald Trump about Murray State. Want to hear him brag about saying he won all Murray’s electoral votes.

Wow, In honor of Murray State blowout of Marquette today, can we temporarily change lyrics of that Steve Miller song to “Crash like a (Golden) Eagle?”

Lamont Smith, former men’s basketball coach at the University of San Diego, has resigned as assistant coach at UTEP after being accused in college admissions scandal.
Many at ACC and SEC schools are shocked, you mean a potential recruit actually paid a COACH?  #ManBitesDog

A former intern in Cal athletic department has accused unnamed football players, coaches and staff members of sexual harassment. This is not how the Golden Bears wanted to join the ranks of big-time football programs.

My #FloridaMan item with my birthday is just a man trying to steal an ice cream truck. Darn, that’s cold.

Apparently Trump wants Patriots owner Robert Kraft to join the team at the White House despite Kraft’s prostitution arrest. Well, not like Kraft did anything really embarrassing, like taking a knee.

So maybe Trump still wants  Kraft to visit White House after his arrest is that Donald wants to warn the Robert privately not to tell anyone who recommended Orchards of Asia?

Kentucky Governor Matt Bevin, instead of vaccinating his nine children, exposed them all to chickenpox.
Nine children! Guessing he’s also against scientific methods to prevent STDs and pregnancy?.

So I guess GOP would have been fine with Hillary Clinton using WhatsApp?

As the Ethiopian Air crash investigation continues, your reminder that Obama’s FAA head left office in 2017, and Trump, who brags about not needing people in many roles that must be confirmed by the Senate, hadn’t nominated anyone until 2 days ago.

Donald Trump, who today called John McCain “horrible,”  said controversy over him insulting the dead war hero and Senator is all the media’s fault, saying, he doesn’t bring it up, but “When they ask me the question, I answer the question.”

Now Donald about those questions on your tax returns?

(and of course, the reason the media asks, is that Trump started this with a weekend tweet storm including insults against McCain.)

Spring fever?

March 20, 2019

Sacramento Kings blew a 25 point lead after three quarters in losing to Brooklyn Nets Tuesday. Did they get a commiserating phone call from the Atlanta Falcons?

Then Wednesday Spurs lost to the Heat  (after beating the Warriors Monday , the Thunder lost at home to the Raptors, and the Rockets lost to the Grizzles. So maybe most of the Western Conference just decided to take a day off.

Oh yeah,  and the Bucks lost to the Cavs.    Did a whole lot of teams suddenly get spring fever?

So what the heck is Donald Trump going to do Thursday so that Americans pay attention to him instead of March Madness

@DevinCow parody account now has more Twitter followers than Devin Nunes. Sometimes I love social media.

Okay folks, if we can unite behind a cow, we can unite behind our eventual Democratic presidential nominee! #DevinCow

Washington Post printed a Charles Kusner op-ed where he defends himself & Jared.   The Post refers to Charles as “founder and principal of Kushner Companies, a diversified real estate company.” Guess Post didn’t have room in the description for “disbarred ex-con who hired prostitute to seduce his brother, videoed it and sent the tape to his sister.”

Kellyanne Conway, defending her boss against her husband “You think he shouldn’t respond when somebody, a non-medical professional accuses him of having a mental disorder? You think he should just take that sitting down?””
Well, actually, many actual medical professionals HAVE accused Trump of having a mental disorder…

Today Donald Trump at a rally in Ohio is again attacking John McCain. And he’s not being booed. Hillary was right #deplorables

And hey,  the funeral John McCain got was one all decent Americans wanted him to have. He was admired, loved even, across the aisle.  Guess that explains why Trump is still upset about it.

And finally,  SOMEONE in the GOP Senate hasn’t completely sold their soul, today anyway, Thank you Georgia Sen. Johnny Isakson (on Trump attacking McCain.) “It’s deplorable what he said. It will be deplorable seven months from now if he says it again, and I will continue to speak out because there’s one thing that we got to do. You may not like immigration, you may not like this, that, maybe a Republican, maybe a Democrat. We’re all Americans

Through the years.

March 19, 2019

Mike Trout reportedly finalizing 12-year deal to stay with Angels for more than $430 million. Meaning Bryce Harper was highest paid player for less than 3 weeks. Hope it was worth 13 years in Philadelphia.

Would make for an interesting March Madness competition if we had to name  at least one player on any of our chosen teams.

USC says it may expel students whose admissions resulted from the bribery scandal. If only the young men and women had TRUE athletic talent, some school would certainly give them a second chance..

Yeah, it’s full of many imperfect characters, but for movies you suddenly discover on TV on a random night, there are few more warmhearted and fun to watch than “Love Actually,”

Kellyanne Conway appears to be siding with Trump over her husband. Well, if their marriage collapses will Fox News hire her when Donald eventually turns on her too?

Trump said to reporters today “I was never a fan of John McCain and I never will be.” This sort of BS would never happen if Lindsey Graham were still alive.

Wall Street Journal says National Enquirer paid $200,000 to get “intimate” texts between Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez. Wonder how much it would take to get some of Trump’s.

Reuters reports Vladimir Putin just signed new Russian law imposing strict fines and possible jail time for publishing “fake news” and online comments that show “blatant disrespect” for the state.
Times like this make us glad we live in a democracy. Oops, never mind.

Your reminder that at this point a year before primaries started the favorites in polling for 2016 GOP Presidential nomination were Jeb Bush and Scott Walker.

And May 2015 polling for 2016 GOP Presidential nomination – 10% each, Bush, Carson, Huckabee, Rubio, Walker. 7% Paul, 6% Cruz, 5% Trump.

There is a rumor that Joe Biden will pick Stacey Abrams as his VP running mate out of the gate. If he does that,  even Anita Hill might vote for him.

Trump fundraising email of day ”
“MS-13 gang members are murdering our citizens, caravans are surging towards our borders, and terrorists are threatening our national security. THE TIME HAS COME TO FINISH THE WALL”
Let me rewrite it for him “I encourage my fellow Americans to send thoughts, prayers and donations to families innocent people killed by a REAL terrorist in New Zealand.”

So many brilliant minds on Twitter, who’s going to make Trump even more upset than usual by starting account?

Cats is cats

It’s that time of year. When you’ve paid almost no attention to college basketball all year.so besides quickly filling out a bracket with Zion and Duke winning it all, you go “why not? And just do a second bracket – a cat bracket  #MarchMadness

Some outrage over schools in March Madness with sub .500 records in their conferences. Makes sense, with records like that teams should only be eligible for NIT, or playoffs in NBA Eastern Conference.

San Antonio Spurs just clinched their 22nd straight winning season. Knicks fans are going “What’s a winning season?”

NY Giants GM Dave Gettleman, discussing the OBJ trade “Really and truly, you can win while you’re building.” Well, yes, but how many games is he talking about winning?

(or he could be talking about winning next year’s #1 NFL draft pick.)

Australia now barring any visitor with a domestic violence charge against women or children from entering the country. Well there go any potential future plans for NFL Australia.

Clayton Kershaw apparently won’t be ready for Opening Day. SF Giants fans are thinking ‘Take your time, don’t rush back for any Dodgers-Giants series in April either.”

For all those who think religious beliefs SHOULD allow an AirBnb host not to rent to a gay couple, hope they are also okay with owners demanding to see marriage licenses for straight couples.

Now Trump is calling Joe Biden “another low I.Q. individual!?” So is Donald’s dementia so bad he now thinks Joe is a black woman?

Donna Brazile is joining Fox News. Because network didn’t already have enough people who are anti-Hillary Clinton? #WTF?

Watching hardcore Trumpsters and MAGAers agree with EVERYTHING Trump tweets makes it sadly more and more understandable why Jim Jones’ followers at Jonestown drank that Kool-Aid.

For those lucky enough not to have a parent who has had dementia, Sunday’s Trump tweets were what “sundowning” looks like.

Selection time.

March 17, 2019

I miss having a President who would have spent today with his family and then filling out his brackets.

Some days I almost wish Donald Trump drank alcohol – then we could put tweet storms like this morning’s down to green beer for breakfast.

Advantage of Selection Sunday for March Madness being on St. Patrick’s Day  is Americans can all blame their soon to be busted brackets on beer and whiskey.

Greet Shirts saying ‘St Patty says Ban Dolan” were being sold out Madison Square Garden today, but security was reportedly confiscating them. Way to go owner James Dolan -, alienate the few fans Knicks have left.

Alabama is one of bigger snubs in March Madness so will be be heading to NIT. A shame for the team, but Crimson Tide fans will be able to salve their wounds when they get picked for next year’s CFB playoffs.

Lakers vs Knicks this morning. And at the beginning of the NBA season who had this as a significant game in the quest for a lottery pick?

All you need to know about Lakers season in one sentence: After Los Angeles lost 11 point lead in last 3 1/2 minutes of game, LeBron James had his game winning shot blocked by Mario Hezonja of the Knicks.

So Trump is demanding comedy shows that attack him be taken off the air, while the shows of people who defend him be put back on the air.

Mick Mulvaney defended Trump as “not a white supremacist” and someone who stands up for “religious liberty, individual liberty.” And why would anyone think otherwise of a President who talks of an “invasion” and implemented a Muslim ban?

Not sure which is worse, Donald Trump being his usual sad petty self and attacking John McCain? Or McCain’s best friend Lindsey Graham not defending him posthumously?

Glad to see the GOP today criticizing Trump’s senseless posthumous attacks on John McCain. Oh, wait, never mind, they’re mocking Beto O’Rourke on Twitter for an 20 year old DUI….

How long until Donald Trump appoints possibly newly-unemployed Jeanine Piero as a federal judge?

Of course I would vote for him as the nominee but.Joe Biden tonight “I have the most progressive record of anybody running for the … anybody who would run.” Anita Hill says “Hi.”

Early days, but thinking about a possible Klobuchar Buttigieg ticket. And one slogan/bumper sticker ‘Amy and Pete – because no one can spell our last names.”

Perspective?

March 15, 2019

That moment when Chiefs were feeling really virtuous as a team about getting rid of  Kareem Hunt

Umpire Angel Hernandez ejected Astros manager AJ Hinch for allegedly arguing ball and strikes, after the first pitch, in the bottom of the first inning of Friday’s split-squad game against the Cardinals.

So even though it’s only spring training, guess Angel is in full umpire  “all about me” form.

Donald Trump has been so maniacally focused on being the center of attention recently, not completely joking when I ask “What will he do to take back the spotlight from March Madness?”

To be fair, maybe Trump felt he HAD to have his veto ceremony today because on Monday Americans will be focused on something far more important to millions of them – filling out March Madness bracket

In New York, the NCAA March Madness tournament at least gives Knicks fans something to argue about. – if eligible would the team be at least a 5 or 6 seed?

And what WILL Trump do to recapture US attention when people who couldn’t tell you the difference between a two and three point play suddenly become college basketball addicts.

Not that hard. Australian Prime Minister refers to Christchurch attackers as “extremist right wing violent terrorists.”

Trump response to latest massacre by right-wing terrorist – “I think it’s a small group of people that have very, very serious problems.” Trump response to a handful of crimes by immigrants – “It’s an invasion of our country.”

So when do we hear from the Bikers Against Trump contingent?

And five words Donald Trump really does not want to hear – ‘Rick Gates is still cooperating.”

Thinking of Christchurch..

March 14, 2019

White killer (or killers) with multiple Muslim fatalities in New Zealand. And Trump is promoting Breitbart on Twitter. I miss having a President.

But if we stop laughing, or being snarky,  the bad guys win.

Starting in 2020, MLB teams will only have 28 man rosters in September, instead of current 40.  So 2019 is last chance for those who tune in to those late season games just to see 17 pitching changes….

Cleveland Browns GM John Dorsey said OBJ’s talent outweighs his challenges. Yeah, that worked out so well with Johnny Manziel.

Facebook “Yesterday, we made a server configuration change that triggered a cascading series of issues. As a result, many people had difficulty accessing our apps and services.” Sounds better than “oops, someone hit the wrong button.”

Trump on Senate resolution against him “I don’t know what the vote will be, it doesn’t matter, I’ll probably have to veto.”
Does he think he will be able to do the same thing with 2020 election?

Today Howard Schultz apologized for saying yesterday. “I probably have spent more time — in the last decade, certainly — than anyone running for president, with the military.”
Maybe he was talking about all the time members of the military have spent in lines at Starbucks?

Trump fundraising email of the day “Liberals in the Senate just voted against a National Emergency.” Uh, 12 GOP Senators voted against you too.

French aviation authorities, not the US FAA, will investigate black boxes from Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302. Yeah, Trump is really making America respected around the world again.

Hallmark Channel just cuts ties with Lori Loughlin. But maybe Loughlin can star as herself in a movie about the College Admissions Scandal.

Lori Loughlin’s daughters have dropped out of USC after it was reveals the actress and her husband paid their way in.

Over under on when they’ll be offered jobs in Trump administration or Fox News?

Must admit, I talked briefly to an expert when I applied to Stanford. It was my high school guidance counselor in Florida. Her response – “Why do you want to go to Connecticut?” No joke.

If you think, as I do, that college athletes who cheat or commit serious crimes should be kicked off teams & expelled, then same should apply to any student who knew their parents paid and cheated to get them into college.

The best of work times…

March 13, 2019

On Wed. March 13,  Facebook and Instagram went down for about 6-7 hours. Forcing millions of Americans actually to work….

Of course, we are about a week away from the first round of March Madness.  So we might be approaching have a record for the most and least productive days in the same month.

But yeah, the horror.  Facebook was down, and frustrated users have nowhere to post it.

At least  Twitter kept working. Good thing, if it went down Trump would probably declare another National Emergency.

Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson said it was a “bad decision” to post picture on Instagram account at 105 mph.    Uh, driving 105 mph AND posting it? At least two bad decisions.

Meanwhile, Drew Brees posted about his son’s flag football game.  #GoSaints

Antonio Brown says his ultimate goal is to pass Jerry Rice as the NFL’s all-time leading receiver. Rice has 22,895 yards.   Brown, 31, has 11,207.   Before the Raiders traded for him did they check Antonio for concussions?

When it says on a tube of hand cream “Please do not ingest” we either have too many lawyers or too many stupid people. Or both.

Not saying she did or didn’t cheat. But a black girl who raised her test scores in similar fashion to some of those caught this week, had HER SATs almost instantly flagged and invalidated.

With names of parents being released should be pretty obvious to their fellow students at Georgetown, USC etc, which kids had help during SATs and faked athletic resumes to get into college. Womp womp.

So Singer claims he got 761 kids admitted to college through “side doors.” Sounds like there’s a lot more indictments, and maybe expulsions, ahead?

And remember when an argument against affirmative action was too many qualified kids ending up in college?

Marc Ragovin muses “If I had only pursued my tetherball career, I could have been a Stanford Cardinal.”
