When will we ever learn?

Admit most of the time I don’t follow the PGA tour, never plan to follow the LIV tour. But got to admit, it takes a lot to give the PGA Tour the moral high ground.

Of major US pro sports, baseball generally has most conservative players/coaches. But apparently Chicago White Sox talked to Major League Baseball today about canceling their game & in the end canceled their postgame fireworks show. #babysteps

So now when someone says they’re Velveeta Voldemort supporter & commits horrific crime, instead of just ignoring the crime, some MAGA & right-wing media are going to pretend he was really a liberal impersonating a Tr*mp supporter? Would be good satire if it weren’t so sick.

Washington Post headline “Tr*mp cracks down on deceptive fundraising by others using his name.” Hey, Washington Post, how about a more accurate headline? “Velveeta Voldemort himself daily sends dozens of deceptive fundraising emails.”

Mitt Romney wrote an op-ed for the Atlantic bemoaning lack of leadership in the US. Yo, Mitt, speaking of leadership, how about breaking with NRA-owned GOP and calling for a US assault weapon ban?

Keep thinking on Mitt Romney’s op-ed wishing for “leadership.” I’m realistic, politics is $$ game. Most politicians need donations to get re-elected & not all are rich. But Mitt has both name recognition AND f*ck you money. He doesn’t need to pander. Which makes it even sadder.

Even before COVID, travel agents who book international travel have been aware of US State Dept advisories for other countries ranging from “exercise caution” to “dangerous, do not travel.” Wonder how many other governments with all these mass shootings are now issuing “do not travel” advisories to the US?

So if GOP won’t budge further on gun control, would they agree to a bill saying it’s time for US to have the DEFAULT be flags at half staff?. Would save time.

Jacob deGrom faced six batters in his first minor league rehab start for Class A St. Lucie. He struck out five and hit one.

The Christians had a better chance against the Lions.

Kevin Durant is turning into the Taylor Swift of baseball. But at least her breakups result in good songs.

USC’s press release on joining Big Ten. And USC Pres. Folt typed this w/ straight face?

“Top priority was to build student-centric athletics program deeply committed to ensuring all student-athletes can compete at highest level athletically & achieve at highest level academically.”

UK doesn’t do fireworks on 4th of July. They do fireworks on Guy Fawkes day, commemorating when group of radicals plotted to take over the country by trying to blow up Parliament & assassinate the king. Just sort of people Velveeta Voldemort would have claimed were patriots.

Great to see so many companies saying they will help employees with abortion costs, including travel. But sadly also realize, in states banning abortion, women who don’t have good full-time jobs with benefits will also be the ones who will most need financial & other help.

3 police officers & a K-9 dog were murdered June 30 responding to domestic violence call in Kentucky, & 4 other officers were shot & injured.

But story almost immediately disappeared from Fox News website. Sure fact suspect has DV history AND is a white man has nothing to do with it. #sarcasm

Not talked about enough, when SCOTUS talks about returning powers to state legislatures, they are referring to GERRYMANDERED red state legislatures that in many cases were elected by a minority of state voters.

He tried to overthrow an election, he wanted armed supporters to march to the US Capitol, he was fine with having his VP killed. I believe Cassidy Hutchinson but does it really matter if Velveeta Voldemort also lunged at a secret service officer?

Today’s GOP – no problem for a 17 year old to cross a state line, get hold of an AR-15 and shoot a gun that kills two people. Heck, such a boy could become a hero. But if a teenager or indeed any woman crosses state lines for an abortion, “lock her up.”

So what will a desperate pregnant woman have to do to avoid punishment in some red states if she wants to terminate her pregnancy? Shoot herself in the stomach?

Florida 2018 Gubernatorial Election results: Not going to claim as Democrat our party or candidates are perfect. But 32,500 vote margin & 100,000 votes for “other?” Every vote matters.

49.6% -Ron DeSantis – GOP – 4,076,186 49.2%

Andrew Gillum- Dem – 4,043,723 1.2%

Other- 100,585

Worse and worser.

Give the LIV Saudi golf tour credit. Some might have said it couldn’t be done. To give the PGA tour the moral high road.

And the first LIV event in the US is this weekend in Oregon. (There are plenty of protests and no I am not watching.) But is anyone shocked where the second US event in late July will be? Tr*mp Bedminster.

So on brand.

Don’t have to want Liz Cheney to be President or even Speaker of House to support her now. Sports fan analogy – imagine baseball game where team you hate most is playing a team run by Satan. You suck it up and cheer – temporarily – for good vs evil. Plenty of time to boo later.

Just saying, for some of us sports fans it’s easier to temporarily support Liz Cheney than it might be for example to root for Tom Brady.

Watching SF Giants lose a 1-0 game vs the Chicago White Sox at Oracle Park makes me miss two things. 1. Letting pitchers hit.

2. Madison Bumgarner

Random fun thought on a holiday weekend. Because we need fun. How great is it going to be to see SENATOR John Fetterman regularly having to wear a suit on the Senate floor? Pennsylvania, you just have to vote.

Florida Governor now attacking state universities “Give me somebody who served 8 yrs in Navy or Marine Corps. It will be much more beneficial & pertinent than someone $100,000 in debt to get degree in zombie studies.”

ICYMI Ron went to YALE. He studied history.

Seeing complaints from some fellow Democrats that President Biden is giving John McCain a posthumous Presidential Medal of Freedom. I didn’t vote for McCain, I wouldn’t vote for McCain. But he was an honorable man who loved our country. And he saved Obamacare. Good enough for me.
