As Stanford plays Saturday Nov 2 against NC State, the Cardinal will now have played two more games against each of teams from North Carolina and Texas than they will have against teams from Calfiornia.

NY Yankees especially in game 5 of the World Series bring to mind a very old joke. What do the NY Yankees and Michael Jackson have in common? They both wore gloves on one hand for no discernible reason.
–
One brighter note on Dodger victory for anyone outside Los Angeles. The last time they won a World Series, Trump lost a Presidential election. If that’s the devil’s bargain in 2024, I’ll take it.
Why isn’t this a bigger story? Wisconsin Senator Tammy Baldwin wrote the ACA provision to allow young people to stay on their parents health insurance until they are 26.
Her opponent Eric Hovde wants to take that away. “It’s a stupid idea for this reason. All we’re doing is delaying younger people’s maturation. “And they need to grow up and move on and stand on their own two feet.
Of course Hovde is a multi-millionaire. If one of his kids’ had graduated from college and wanted to do an internship or study as a grad student without benefit, he’d either help them with insurance or medical bills.
(Dave McCormick, a hedge fund mega-millionaire has made similar statements. Pretty damn sure his kids have nothing to worry about either.

JD Vance says he’s been “red-pilled” on vaccines. Oh, please, does anyone think HIS kids aren’t vaccinated?
–
Is it possible that Trump’s speeches are becoming increasingly lengthy because he thinks there’s a good chance after November 5 no one will want to pay any attention to anything he says again?
The biggest rating he’s going to get for an appearance after November 5 might be for the one that will start “Will the defendant please rise.”

Oops: MAGA Mike Johnson, campaigning for NY GOP Rep Brandon Williams was asked if he’d repeal Biden’s CHIPS Act.
Which per NY TImes brought “$100 billion worth of investment in semiconductor industry to Syracuse area. “I expect we probably will,
– Williams soon jumped in to say that he opposed repealing the CHIPS Act and would lobby the speaker.” They are so bad at governing.
–
How can Presidential candidate say of Liz Cheney “Let’s put her with a rifle standing there with 9 barrels shooting at her. Let’s see how she feels about it. You know, when guns are trained on her face.”
Most would be arrested. Media still hung up on Biden’s garbage phrasing.
NY Times “Trump Attacks Liz Cheney Using Violent War Imagery.” Understand space is at a premium, but it doesn’t take more space to write the truth: “Trump Calls for Liz Cheney to be Executed by Firing Squad.”
–
Give Trump credit for one accomplishment. Gotten me to believe that for all I disagree with her on so many things, Liz Cheney is an admirable and brave patriot.
As we approach final weekend before election, remember, confirmation bias makes it very difficult to change a vote.
Much easier, convincing someone not planning to vote that their vote matters. If our votes didn’t matter, GOP wouldn’t be trying so hard to take them away.

Women lead
September 25, 2024Former San Antonio Spurs asst coach Becky Hammon, a Gregg Popovich protege, interviewed repeatedly for NBA head coaching jobs. She never got an offer; whisper was she “wasn’t head coaching material.” Mark Davis paid her $1 million to coach the Las Vegas Aces.
Result, repeat WNBA championships.
And a first round sweep tonight.

Los Angeles Dodgers, down 4-2 with two on, nobody out in bottom of the 9th, ground into game ending triple play (!) to lose to the San Diego Padres. No punch line. as an SF Giants fan I just like reporting that.

Speaker Mike Johnson says GOP House will certify the election, “if it’s a free and fair election.” Translation. Republicans are only agreeing to accept the election results if they win.
Imagine, seriously, if sports fans said they would accept the outcome of games, only if THEIR teams won.
–
On the Late Show, Stephen Colbert asked Canadian PM Justin Trudeau on Americans crossing border for lower drug prices. “We’re happy to try to help you out, but would be really easier if you guys had Universal Health Care.
If US only cared about health as much as gun rights.
–
Trump bragging on how he will take care of women by eliminating their rights: “You will no longer have anxiety from all the problems our country has today… You will be protected, & will be your protector.” Trump isn’t running for President. He’s running for Stalker in Chief.
–
But seriously wrap your head around this:
A candidate for President has been found guilty of sexual assault and denies dozens of accusations from others by saying things like “she would not be the chosen one.” That same candidate now calls himself “a protector of women.”
–
Just saying for anyone who knows someone in Texas. Avote for Colin Allred is not only a vote to send Ted Cruz back to Texas, (or Canada)
It’s also a vote to keep Mitch McConnell’s GOP replacement from being Senate Majority Leader. And a vote to keep GOP from refusing to confirm judicial nominees even if Kamala Harris is elected.
–
Anyone who knows the history of the Holocaust knows… It didn’t start with Nazi death camps. It started with serial numbers, registration, demonizing non-Aryans, punishing dissidents and political enemies…
—
If you want to know how unhinged Trump’s latest speech today was don’t take my word for it. Go to Fox News website. They aren’t even mentioning it.
(not the first time either.)
–
–
Mitch McConnell actually spoke today on the Senate floor about Democrats trying to destroy the legitimacy of the Supreme Court. Funeral services for satire are pending.
–
–
Joe Manchin having hissy fit & won’t endorse Kamala Harris, because she supports ending filibuster to codify Roe V. Wade. “Shame on her. She knows the filibuster is the holy grail of democracy.” What will Manchin say if GOP takes back Senate & eliminates filibuster on day 1?
–
So since Trump is promising everything else why hasn’t he said if he were President he’d Sharpie the hurricane away from Florida?
