Wins and a big loss

August 26, 2026

Two starting pitchers injured in two days.

Butt the Sacramento Rivercats wearing SF Giants uniforms have won their first series in recent memory

ICYMI, SEC just joined Big Ten in passing rule unanimously opposing athletes leaving NFL & returning to college teams.
When professional sports leagues deal with REAL issues they fix them.
Whatever Fox News and GOP want to claim, transgender women aren’t playing in the WNBA

One of of my favorite Dolly Parton lines.

“I’m not offended by all the dumb blonde jokes because I know I’m not dumb… and I also know that I’m not blonde.”

Never paid much attention to Jelly Roll But he had one of best lines of the week subbing for Jimmy Kimmel “Any US President should be able to handle a few jokes. But he also should be able to handle gas prices, healthcare and the occasional international conflict.”

Perhaps should be getting more attention that the Wall Street Journal increasingly appears to be done with Trump.

Today a really negative article on his decision to start the Iran war.

And my money’s on the WSJ surviving a lot longer than he does.

Media keeps calling her Darline Graham

Until Lindsey died she was Darline Graham Nordone.

So she would NOT have been able to vote under the SAVE Act she champions without reregistering to vote with a passport etc.

Something not all S. Carolina women voters could afford.

Darline Graham: Government run health care…. bad idea after bad idea. Annie Andrews backs it all. I have a different background. My parents worked long, hard hours. If that were sick, they had to get up and go to work. My mother passed away when I was 11 and my father just over a year later.”

So “Vote for me and you won’t have to take care of your elderly parents because they will die young?”

Amy Klobuchar has been posting about on a 9-county rural economy tour in Minnesota & talking about her plans as Governor.

Some fun stories, often incluiding meeting residents who have never seen a Senator.

What’s national media covering? Mike Lindell backing out of paying for a recount. Why it matters? Because this contributes to voters’ “politicians are bad/useless” mentality.

Finally, not my idea

But let’s make September 25 Dolly Parton Day

The bling’s the thing

June 27, 2025

Remember as you watch Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez spend more money on their wedding than most Americans, even most American families, make in a lifetime. that the main goal of the Big Beautiful Betrayal is to give people like them tax cuts.

And again, I don’t begrudge Jeff spending his billions on whatever he wants. I DO begrudge GOP slashing Medicaid, SNAP & public broadcasting to pay for him getting another tax cut. #BigBeautifulBetrayal

So SCOTUS says parents with religious objections can ban books from schools. Does that mean non-Christians can get schools to ban books about Christmas?

Or Christian Scientiss can get schools to ban books about doctors?

Senator Ron Johnson wants to run GOP Big Beautiful Betrayal Bill through AI…

Give me a bleeping break. I’m in the travel business. We know that AI isn’t even good enough now to safely plan a trip without errors… and Ron thinks it’s good enough to legislate with

Dear Wisconsin, how could you have elected the great Tammy Baldwin but also him?

Meanwhile I LOVE Jasmine Crockett:

“Let me tell you how you receive an Einstein visa,” You’re supposed to have some sort of significant achievement, like being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize or a Pulitzer; being an Olympic medalist; or having other sustained extraordinary abilities and success in sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics. Last time I checked the first lady had none of those accolades under her belt.”

At the Kennedy Center this year the National Symphony is performing “Dolly Parton’s Threads: My Songs in Symphony.” Dolly Parton herself will not be there. A subtle middle finger from a wonderful woman to dear leader?

If you find Jeff Bezos’s mega million $$ second wedding ceremony to be obscene may I suggest a simple but real way of registering your opinion?

Buy at least one thing this week you were going to buy on Amazon from a local merchant, or at least a small business.

CNN headline: “Trump employs a familiar tactic on Iran. Iran’s nuclear program may or may not be ‘obliterated.’ But president wants world to believe that because it suits his political needs.” They are afraid to say “Trump is probably lying to claim a win that doesn’t exist.”

Here’s a wild stat. New Orleans has picked up more snow than Philadelphia this year, while Philadelphia along with many other major cities along the East Coast have been hotter than New Orleans. Yikes!

But there’s no climate change…
