One of most repulsive things about today’s media: If pretty white woman or girl is killed by a partner, a stalker, ex-boyfriend, pedophile, random sociopath, it’s a brief flash in news cycle.

For all the headlines Caitlin Clark is getting, and all the records she is breaking, this might be part of her most memorable legacy. – in 2024 her recent games have scalper selling tickets at Final Four World Series prices.

Some US media reporting on Biden’s 81% in Michigan vs Trump’s 68% reminds me of an old Soviet Union joke:

Senator Klobuchar is a baseball fan, so she knows Bryce Harper. And while she’s too professional to have quoted him this am, would not have faulted Amy Klobuchar at all had she responded to Kristen Welker at some point “That’s a clown question, bro.”

Bad odds.

Due to bad weather in the San Francisco Bay Area delaying and canceling flights it took some media folks longer to fly to Las Vegas, normally about 90 minutes, than it took others to drive (by car it takes about 8 hours)  Normally the only thing that wastes an entire day at a time this week involves a Super Bowl pre-game show.

So now that the flag football is out of the way, what’s the NFL going to do to keep getting headlines the rest of the week?

And for $7,000 and up a ticket do attendees at least get a download of all the commercials?

How upset must Donald Trump be about King Charles III having cancer? All the speculation on the type of cancer will be taking attention away from HIM.

(Yes, I was being snarky. but Donald’s all-caps Truth Social post did talk about Charles, “who I got to know very well….”)

So if Texas secedes how quickly can the rest of the country limit how many Texans cross our USA border?

Has Trump called the Border Patrol Union RINOs yet?

How many Senators, including GOP leaders, spent how many hours on negotiating a bill Republicans said they wanted? And how many of their staffers probably gave up nights and weekends to get it done. Only for GOP to turn around and say, “Just kidding.”

Our allies are already despairing of us with GOP controlling House and Trump controlling MAGA Mike Johnson?

But why should ANY American trust anything any Republican politician says ever again.

Hey SNL, if you had to give Nikki Haley a spot, why not do same for Democratic politicians. Amy Klobuchar can be seriously funny. Pete Buttigieg has great comic timing as well. Heck, invite Amy & Pete on together. Enough people remember 2020 primaries it would be must-see TV.

The Pro Bowl on Sunday has devolved into some skill events and flag football games.

And yes, you can bet on them.

But if you know what those events are, and/or have made betting plans, you just might have a gambling problem.

While 150 Democrats is trending on social media and GOP is trying to stir up outrage, your reminder, President George W. Bush had a DUI, and VP Dick Cheney had two DUIs.

(Their proposed law makes any non-citizen deportable for a DUI conviction or even charge.)

GOP House new proposed law makes someone convicted of even or charged with DUI not only deportable but inadmissable from USA. So if other countries say someone convicted or charged with crime is inadmissable, gonna make it real hard for Trump if re-elected to go to most summits.

Tom Cotton went to Harvard and served in US Military. Pretty sure he knows that Singapore, one of the most capitalist countries in the world, is not China. But he’s hoping GOP voters don’t.

In Florida, GOP has been caught using ghost candidates in state races – vaguely progressive description for those “tired of politics as usual.” In some close 2020 races a “ghost” not campaigning took enough votes to give GOP win. Third parties don’t win, they spoil.

Meanwhile – Now ex Presidential candidate Ron DeSantis was polling at best near 5% in New Hampshire. To put that in perspective, in NH in 2020, Ron wouldn’t have beaten top 5 Democrats Bernie Sanders, Pete Buttigieg, Amy Klobuchar, Liz Warren or Joe Biden. He’d have about tied Tom Steyer.

NY Times headline “The Emasculation of Ron DeSantis by the Bully Donald Trump.” Uh, that implies that DeSantis was any sort of a real man before Trump started attacking him.

Many Democrats dropped out of 2022 race and endorsed Joe Biden, but remained popular in their home states. A few improved their national profile. Deathsantis did neither. He’s term-limited out but appears to have squandered what good will he had even with many GOP in Florida.

On the 51st anniversary of Roe v. Wade, can anyone imagine if somehow if SCOTUS now decided what state a man lived in affected his ability legally to procure Viagra?

WTF ESPN? This headline “Iowa’s Clark- fan collide after Ohio States upset win.”

Uh, Ohio State fans stormed the court after their upset win and one of them crashed into Caitlin Clark, knocking her to the ground in pain. Fortunately she says she’s not injured but it was “kind of scary.”

I know women’s college basketball gets short shift to the men’s game on many things, but security shouldn’t be one of them.

(and hey, I get storming the court in excitement, but players should have been able to leave the court first.)

(And another call out to retired Senator Roy Blunt. Many Republicans would not have been so gracious in helping Biden’s inauguration happen. There were serious doubts between COVID and after January 6 as to whether it could happen publicly.)

Wait, what? Just saw this tonight. “Bipartisan tax deal to expand child tax credit.” From Dem Sen. Ron Wyden & GOP Rep. Jason Smith -“Tax Relief for American Families & Workers Act of 2024.”” Seems like much bigger deal than circus in Iowa.

Love local newspapers, but some papers we only want short-term, for vacations, politics, sports, etc. Wish there was option, $5-10-25 dollars or so to sign up for month, without automatic renewal which can be maddening.. I for one would be happy to give local paper that money.

NFL Playoffs don’t start until this weekend and many fans who will be unable to watch the game are angry and wondering how the NFL could have possibly sold the Dolphins-Chiefs game to Peacock.

Uh, if the NFL thought they could get away with in they’d put all the playoffs on pay per view!

Uh, so far what I’ve seen is a few far-left Democrats ripping Biden. Not Democrats in general. Thinking most of them support our President.

Almost all polls show Trump has huge lead & his GOP base/cult won’t vote for anyone else, even if he’s convicted & jailed. This doesn’t stop national media from nonstop GOP primary coverage while ignoring Joe Biden & Democrats’ real accomplishments.

Understand why Fox News etc don’t say it. But why aren’t CNN, ABC, CBS etc covering Hunter Biden story saying this simple sentence” “Hunter Biden is being held in contempt only because he wants to testify to the House not under cover of darkness but publicly on the record.”

As a U.S. led coalition has struck Iran-backed Houthi militants in Yemen, one thought: I am SO glad President Biden is our Commander in Chief now.

So Hunter Biden paid back all his back taxes, but he is facing felony charges. Republicans want him locked up. Donald Trump brags about avoiding taxes and the Trump Corp was found guilty on fraud charges. Republicans want him back in the White House.

There are so many people now, not just politicians, but election workers, judges, lawyers, etc who need security because Donald Trump has attacked them with vitriol and lies. How long until one of Velveeta Voldemort’s outbursts gets someone killed?

It’s not just that GOP has a razor thin majority in the House, it’s that they are letting a handful of right-wing crazies from deep red districts run the country.

Want change? Or just sanity? Vote Blue in every 2024 election!

(Not that Democrats don’t have crazies, but they aren’t running the party.)
