As much as I complain about baseball umpires the referees in tonight’s games made realize officiating could be much much worse.

But Shohei Ohtani, $70 million, Tyler Glasgow, $30 million, Blake Snell, $28.5 million, Yamamoto $27 million…

The Blue Jays had the 5th highest payroll in baseball and even so were under $100 million below the Dodgers. Not your normal numbers game.

Fox News announcers talking pre-game about Dodgers Blake Snell adjusting after game 1 and needing to “establish the fastball” in World Series game 5.

Apparently the Blue Jays had other ideas.

This World Series is a LONG way from over.


But all this talk earlier this week from sports pundits. about Yamamoto possibly being the next postseason Bumgarner. What if the next Bumgarner turns out to be Yesavage?

(A couple cool facts from tonight – Trey Yesavage’s 2025 salary is $57,204, which is his prorated salary for the part of the season he played in the major leagues. He did get a $4 million signing bonus. And in his first game this season he pitched before a crowd of 327 in single A for the Dunedin Blue Jays against the Jupiter Hammerheads. Tonight’s crowd was over 52,000)

To put that $57.204 in perspective, Game 5, LA Dodgers’ starting pitcher Blake Snell makes $36 million. Works out to about $60,000 for a five pitch at bat.

LIndsay Graham on Donald and Pete Hegseth regularly killing people in boats just because they are “allegedly” smuggling drugs. “I love this debate. I think most Americans are gonna be with Trump.”

Senator Amy Klobuchar was talking about Senate’s bipartisan bill to assert their rights on tariffs nails it “His new tariff against Canada isn’t about security, or the economy,

It’s just about the President’s personal grievances and Americans are the ones paying the price.”

Actually later Wednesday the Senate just voted to end Trump’s new higher tariffs on Canada. Tariffs based, not on economics but on Donald’s petulant reaction to an ad aired by province of Ontario accurately quoting Ronald Reagan. GOP House cowards remain in recess. They don’t ever want to vote again.

Some GOP & right-wing media want us not to care about Canada.

But Canada is 1 of top 2 USA trading partners. (mexico is the other)

Many parts for products made in US come from Canada and most of our imported crude oil. Canadian tourists spent over $20 billion in USA in 2024.

This latest Trump tantrum hurts us all.

Mad props not just to the Toronto Blue Jays for their comeback from that heartwrenching game 3 18 inning loss. But to their fans, who packed Rogers Centre AGAIN after game 3 ended about 3am Toronto time.

Meanwhile in game 3. Many missed chances on both sides. But robot umps would have given the Blue Jays not only 2 on no outs in the 2nd, but bases loaded in the 18th.

At least commissioner Manfred didn’t interrupt this World Series Game 3 or 4 for another Jonas Brothers concert?

Fully aware many baseball players are conservative, & don’t have to agree with athletes on politics to root for them.

But Blake Treinen is a special case. He LOVES Trump – calls him “the greatest President of my lifetime,”and for years has been posting about vaccines, 2020 election…..

Ohio Senator Bernie Moreno called Affordable Care Act a ‘total disaster’ but said GOP needs “3 or 4 months” for a replacement plan.

Uh, open enrollment starts Nov 1.

And Republicans have had NINE months. Plus Trump had an entire first term…

Meanwhile, as five GOP Senators voted with Dems to end Trump’s tariffs on Brazil – tariffs instituted because Donald is mad that Brazil is punishing his pal Bolsonaro for criminal behavior, Rand Paul was asked before the vote why more of his Republican colleagues were not willing to support the measure.

Mr. Paul answered: “Fear.”

Today in meeting with GOP Senators, J.D. Vance apparently told them Trump does not want the House coming back.

Of course not, then they’d have to release the Epstein files.

Remember, when GOP wanted to confirm Kimberly Guilfoyle & Herschel Walker as Ambassadors to Greece and the Bahamas, they overrode filibuster. They could do that to open government too.

But they won’t.

Trump wants government closed because he is terrified of the Epstein files.

I don’t know enough about everything British journalist Sami Hamdi has said and written to really have an opinion on him.

But I do know that it’s insane that anyone can be fired or arrested and/or deported just because Laura Loomer doesn’t like them.

It’s not that Rand Paul and Thomas Massie have gotten any more liberal or even moderate. It’s that Trump’s policies are increasingly so RADICAL that two of the last true deeply conservative members of Congress are appalled.

Meanwhile Game 1 could be the high water mark for the Blue Jays… or it could be the first win in an upset series. But Blake Snell signed 2 yr, $62 million contract w/ SF Giants in early 2024, pitching all of 20 games then skipping his last start before opting out & signing w/ Dodgers for 5 yrs, $182 million So World Series game 1 could not have been more fun for the Giants.

From World Series Game 1 “Dodgers last seven starting pitchers had combined to allow 5 runs. When all was said & done on Saturday night, Snell himself had allowed 5.”

Of course as an SF Giants fan I get it, LA could win the next 4 games. (And won the second.) You take your fun when you can.

The Dodgers are paying him the highest contract ever for a pitcher only – $325 million over 12 years – over $27 million a year

And yet Blake Snell, Tyler Glasnow AND Shohei Ohtani are all making more in 2025. Over $32 million for Snell, Glasgow and Ohtani over $28 million

Trump doesn’t joke. So have to assume that he’s serious about running in 2028. But a big question, what loophole for a third term can he find that wouldn’t allow him to be challenged by Barack Obama?

So why ISN’T he apoplectic now?

Trump has no reason to send election monitors to California. And about 80% of the state votes by mail.

Except CA has rejected him soundly three times. DonOLD wants revenge, he wants his private army to harass and arrest Californians & at least he hopes to intimidate people so that they stay home.

In NJ, DOJ will monitor polling in populous & immigrant-heavy Passaic County. In California, DOJ will monitor LA, Orange, Fresno & Kern Counties; 17 million people including most heavily Latino areas of state.

Will ICE be with them? Trial run for 2026?

So Trump’s ICE now is arresting immigrant workers in blue cities. And many MAGA are laughing.

Pretty damn sure that many many Republicans employ undocumented folks too. At some point the numbers Stephen Miller wants mean going after them as well.

If for no other reason to learn more about whichever team most of North America will probably be rooting for against the Los Angeles Dodgers.
