Mets -Brewers game for a while was a painful reminder of the season for SF Giants fans because no team could get a hit with RISP. Then Brewers took 2-0 lead (from back to back home runs) in the 7th into the 9th, and SFGiants fans got flashbacks to Camilo Doval.

Mets have the highest payroll in MLB (with the help of Ohtani’s creative math in Los Angeles.)
Dodgers and Phillies are 4th and 5th in the top five (others are Astros & Yankees.) Padres are 15th.
Meanwhile in AL, other than NY, remaining playoff teams are Royals, 20th, Guardians, 23rd, Tigers 26th.
In case you want to root for teams who will not or cannot buy a title.

For some reason, Fox News not only did not cover Liz Cheney’s speech endorsing Kamala Harris, but also after regular commentary trying to blame Biden and Harris for the port strike, is not covering on their website tonight that the ILA has reached an agreement to go back to work.

North Carolina Republicans won state legislature in 2010 & have gerrymandered it to keep control. They regularly pass bills against building and environmental regularations (along with bills against abortion and voting rights. Just one month ago, Govenor Roy Cooper vetoed their “building code regulatory reform bill” over safety concerns. But lawmakers overrode it.

Bruce Springsteen has endorsed Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. The Boss has spoken.
Your move, Chris Christie.
–
Susan Rice great tonight on with Lawrence O’Donnell calls Donald Trump a “surrender monkey” and calls him America’s Neville Chamberlain.
Not quite true though. Neville Chamberlain did some good things in his life.

–
Well give Trump credit for accomplishing one thing most of us thought was impossible Kamala Harris saying “Can we hear it for Liz Cheney?”

–
Liz Cheney talking about her childhood as a young Republican: “I was a Republican even before Donald Trump started spray-tanning.”
–
For all that Trump complains about the evidence Jack Smith released about a month before the election, remember this: If Donald hadn’t been fighting to delay the trial for years, it would have been over by now
–
Trump saying today in Michigian ” if I thought I lost I wouldn’t be doing it – running- again. If I thought I lost I’d be on the beaches of Monte Carlo or something…” “Beaches of Monte Carlo? – A real man of the people.
(and ask any travel agent. Many reasons to go to Monte Carlo… wouldn’t put beaches in the top ten.)
–
Any airtime or stories about Melania Trump now are just distractions from the fact her husband violently tried to overthrow the 2020 election. Period.
–
CNN piece today questioning the “Republicans for Harris” campaigning Democrats are doing, including with Liz Cheney, and saying, GOP isn’t doing the same with “Democrats for Trump.” Maybe because there basically AREN’T any Democrats for Trump, .

Women lead
September 25, 2024Former San Antonio Spurs asst coach Becky Hammon, a Gregg Popovich protege, interviewed repeatedly for NBA head coaching jobs. She never got an offer; whisper was she “wasn’t head coaching material.” Mark Davis paid her $1 million to coach the Las Vegas Aces.
Result, repeat WNBA championships.
And a first round sweep tonight.
–
Los Angeles Dodgers, down 4-2 with two on, nobody out in bottom of the 9th, ground into game ending triple play (!) to lose to the San Diego Padres. No punch line. as an SF Giants fan I just like reporting that.

Speaker Mike Johnson says GOP House will certify the election, “if it’s a free and fair election.” Translation. Republicans are only agreeing to accept the election results if they win.
Imagine, seriously, if sports fans said they would accept the outcome of games, only if THEIR teams won.

On the Late Show, Stephen Colbert asked Canadian PM Justin Trudeau on Americans crossing border for lower drug prices. “We’re happy to try to help you out, but would be really easier if you guys had Universal Health Care.
If US only cared about health as much as gun rights.
–
Trump bragging on how he will take care of women by eliminating their rights: “You will no longer have anxiety from all the problems our country has today… You will be protected, & will be your protector.” Trump isn’t running for President. He’s running for Stalker in Chief.
–
But seriously wrap your head around this:
A candidate for President has been found guilty of sexual assault and denies dozens of accusations from others by saying things like “she would not be the chosen one.” That same candidate now calls himself “a protector of women.”

Just saying for anyone who knows someone in Texas. Avote for Colin Allred is not only a vote to send Ted Cruz back to Texas, (or Canada)
It’s also a vote to keep Mitch McConnell’s GOP replacement from being Senate Majority Leader. And a vote to keep GOP from refusing to confirm judicial nominees even if Kamala Harris is elected.
–
Anyone who knows the history of the Holocaust knows… It didn’t start with Nazi death camps. It started with serial numbers, registration, demonizing non-Aryans, punishing dissidents and political enemies…
—
If you want to know how unhinged Trump’s latest speech today was don’t take my word for it. Go to Fox News website. They aren’t even mentioning it.
(not the first time either.)
–
–
Mitch McConnell actually spoke today on the Senate floor about Democrats trying to destroy the legitimacy of the Supreme Court. Funeral services for satire are pending.
–
–
Joe Manchin having hissy fit & won’t endorse Kamala Harris, because she supports ending filibuster to codify Roe V. Wade. “Shame on her. She knows the filibuster is the holy grail of democracy.” What will Manchin say if GOP takes back Senate & eliminates filibuster on day 1?
–
So since Trump is promising everything else why hasn’t he said if he were President he’d Sharpie the hurricane away from Florida?
