Memorials and memories

May 26, 2025

As college football playoff commissioners moved towards CFP changes with top four seeds getting byes, regardless of conference, SEC commissioner Greg Sankey now says SEC not settled on preferred CFP format – he wants to allow for changing conditions, and possible play-in games

Translation, he’ll be fine as long as at least half the SEC including Alabama get into the post season.

Teams in playoff position on Memorial Day have about a 75% chance of making the postseason.

Meanwhile, will the Colorado Rockies, 9-45, be the first MLB team to be eliminated by the All-Star Break?

PGA Senior Golf Championship ended yesterday. Has Donald said he should have won yet?

Fox News was all over the incident in Liverpool during the championship parade for the city’s football/soccer Premier League team. 50 plus people were injured, some gravely, when a car drove through the crowd. Now that police say driver was a local white 53 year old man…. crickets.-

Joe Biden Tweet today. “On Memorial Day, let us pause to remember and honor the brave women and men who made the ultimate sacrifice so we could live our lives in peace and possibility. Today we also honor the families they left behind whose hearts still carry the weight of absence.”

Barack Obama Tweet “On Memorial Day, we remember the sacrifices that our men and women in uniform and their families have made to preserve our freedom. May we always strive to honor the strength and resolve they’ve shown our country.”

I miss having a president.

Meanwhile Velveeta Voldemort today “We have the World Cup and we have the Olympics. Can you imagine, I miss that four years and now I have everything. Amazing the way things work out. God did that.”

So at this point what are the odds that the World Cup and Olympics both happen in the US?

For some reason Fox, which claims to be pro policy and military, didn’t say a word about this guy on Memorial Day.

Numbers games

Of course it’s way too early to look seriously at the standings. But if MLB season ended today, four playoff teams would be from AL Central (Tigers, Guardians, Twins, Royals) and three (Dodgers, Giants, Padres), from NL West.

Minnesota Twins fall short 2-1 to Royals with tying run on 3rd and winning run on 2nd in 10th…. but baseball friend pointed out, had they pulled it out would have been first 3 game sweep with all wins by walkoff in franchise history. Baseball is the best nerd game.

Whether or not Indiana Fever’s Caitlin Clark really was fouled late in a two point game against the NY Liberty it’s kind of cool that social media is in an uproar over women’s basketball.

All these 20 plus point comebacks in NBA playoffs. Maybe it’s good for advertisers in the 4th quarter. But have to wonder, how many people are figuring there’s no need to turn in for the first quarter?

Trump DOJ investigating Chicago mayor for possibly hiring too many Black people. His office workforce is 30% White, 34% Black. Chicago city population is 31.4% white, 28.7% black.

Meanwhile 40% of Americans are people of color. Trump cabinet, 17% people of color. Where’s THAT investigation?

He’s going to pardon the “late great Al Capone”, isn’t he?

Wow. CNN’s “Change the Channel” Scott Jennings in a speech promoting his own book said that when he first met Trump at the White House, Donald told him “You look terrific.” So is Jennings hoping when Velveeta Voldemort runs out of Fox folks to hire he’ll offer him a job?

Buried in NY Times article today. “In no county where Trump increased his share of vote did majority of adults have college degree. And in no county voting more Democratic did fewer than 20% of adults have college degree.” Why Trump feels safe going after Harvard.

Now he’s attacking the “big beautiful bill.” Twice in one month Trump actually has me agreeing with… Rand Paul?

Personally I’m fine with Tommy Tuberville running for Alabama governor. But does this mean he’d actually have to move back to the state from Florida?

NY Times Headline “Europe Negotiating by the Book, but Trump Is Tearing It Up.” Buried lede: “Trump sees tariff talks as chance to pressure rival into concessions. E.U. officials have acted as if they were dealing w/ an ally.”

Think about it. Memorial Day weekend, four months into Trump second term, USA is no longer an ally of Europe.

When #FAFO trends now we all know it’s another Trump about a Trump voter or voters who voted for him to hurt other people. And now discovered they ARE the other people.

Trump at West Point “You will become officers of the greatest & most powerful army the world has ever known. And I know, because I rebuilt that army, & I rebuilt the military. And we rebuilt it like nobody has ever rebuilt it before in my 1st term…” Dementia in plain sight.
