Dropped passes

January 11, 2024

Aaron Rodgers was dropped from the Pat McAfee Show after his lies about Jimmy Kimmel and Jeffrey Epstein.

How long until Aaron is invited on with Sean Hannity on Fox, or Tucker Carlson’s Twitter/X show?

On the first day that Draymond Green returned to the Golden State sideline after his suspension, (though he did not play) the Warriors lost to the New Orleans Pelicans 141-105.

Good thing Draymond wasn’t on the floor. For all his positive talk about making changes  This game was so bad could imagine a reasonable player commiting a flagrant 2 or swearing at a referee just to get himself out of there.

Meanwhile, in what might turn out of have been a battle for ping-pong balls, the now 6-30 San Antonio Spurs and Wemby dismantled the now 3-35 Detroit Pistons.

WTAF? Nancy Mace starts screaming “ARREST HIM” about white privilege with Hunter Biden because he showed up at their hearing & has responded to their subpoena by saying he only wants to testify publicly.

Uh. Hunter WANTS to testify. I missed Mace’s rant about arresting Gym Jordan

Nick Saban is a Democrat. He could take a couple years to recharge and then in 2026 run for Senate in Alabama. Better man and MUCH better coach than Tommy Tuberville.

Would love for Nick Saban to run for U.S. Senate. Does it mean I think he’s better than Doug Jones? No. But if celebrities get elected because of how much sports matters in some states, I’d rather have smart guy with good politics. Maybe Lebron James might run some day in Ohio?

Nothing Nikki Haley has said will upset Velveeta Voldemort as much as this phrase tonight “That election, Trump lost it. Biden won.”

CNN’s Manu Raku talking to GOP Freedom Caucus member who claims Biden is letting “illegals” in to get votes. No pushback. People who are not citizens, regardless of immigration status, cannot vote. Being objective journalist doesn’t mean letting complete lies go unchecked.

Chris Christie ias he suspended his campaign quoted Ben Franklin with the same line as Amy Klobuchar used in Senate speech on Jan 6 minutest before rioters broke in: “Our cause—despite our political differences—is to preserve our American democracy…because as someone once said ‘It’s a republic, if you can keep it.’”

Twelve Extreme MAGA Republicans including Marge Three Names tanked a procedural vote today to protest Mike Johnson’s spending deal with Chuck Schumer. You know who didn’t have these issues despite some extreme members and a razor thin majority? Nancy Pelosi.

If Chris Christie is serious about keeping Donald Trump out of White House here’s statement he could make. “I disagree with Joe Biden on many things, but he’s an honorable man who loves this country & democracy. If Trump is our nominee we should re-elect Biden & look ahead to 2028.”

Sore arm today after RSV shot. But also just heard about a client who had RSV turn into pneumonia and broke a rib from coughing.

I’ll happily continue to take every recommended vaccine in US. Including the next COVID booster when it shows up.

Over one billion to serve.

December 22, 2023

And yes, tell me again how billionaire sports owners need tax cuts.

Best thing about the Los Angeles Dodgers signing Yamamoto.

In 2024, fans of 28 other teams will join SF Giants fans in considering the Dodgers the most hated team in Major League Baseball.

And we all know, if some team like the Giants or the Astros or the Mariners had pulled off this deal for the deferred contracts etc, that MLB would try to invalidate the deal. Manfred wants a Dodgers-Yankees World Series.

On the other hand, It’s all going to be worth it when the Dodgers flame out in the NLDS or NLCS…

Is there a team in the NFL that has done a better or I should say worse, job week after week of “messing” with their fans’ emotions than the New Orleans Saints? Never count them as winners, never count them out.

(Bad game, got down over 20 points, and still came within 8 points with about 4 minutes to go…)

Fox News headline “Pete Buttigieg runs up tens of thousands of dollars on taxpayers’ tab flying on jets.”

Actual story says Buttigieg spent $59,000 on government planes from Aug 2021 to June 2023 per IG audit. And the DOT says these were times when schedule/security made that that less expensive option.

Fox had no issues when Elaine Chao spent over $93,000 in 2017 ALONE

Florida AG Ashley Moody claiming state’s public school libraries are “forum for government speech” & “not a forum for free expression.” State now “leads”with more than 40 percent of banned books in USA. Flori-DUH jokes are funny, but what’s happening to Florida education isn’t.

How do some of these would be Presidents in GOP primary expect us to think they’d stand up to our enemies? They can’t even stand up to loser Donald Trump.

Not that long ago Rudy Giuliani, despite his many flaws, was a wealthy man with a very comfortable life. Even if Joe Biden did say all Rudy’s sentences have a “noun, a verb and 9-11.” And he threw it all away. #ETTD

Remember if you have MAGA friends/family screaming about Colorado: “Six Republican & unaffiliated Colorado voters filed a lawsuit in Sept. alleging that Trump’s actions in relation to the Jan. 6 attack on U.S. Capitol disqualify him from office under 14th Amendment.”

Know many people of various ages, genders, races, who are quite happy they voted for President Biden & will vote for Joe again. Some admit he’s exceeded expectations. Why can’t media ever interview people like that? Or more to the point, show or write about THOSE interviews?

Didn’t realize Barry Manilow is also 80 years old. Add him to the list of musicians – Mick Jagger, Paul McCartney, Willie Nelson etc, who should perform at President Biden’s second inauguation.

Here we go again CNN. President Biden gets a complicated foreign policy success with prisoner swap with Venezuela, bringing 10 Americans home. And part of CNN story is complaints Joe isn’t also making a deal to bring home someone from Russia.

GOP now saying “let the voters decide” about Trump on a ballot. But when the voters decide… for reproductive rights, for voting rights, for gun laws… GOP wants to take it to the courts. Make it make sense.

Got a fundraising request from California Democrats for the race for Kevin McCarthy’s seat. Uh, district is R+16!. My late Aunt who lived in Ridgecrest, part of that district, used to say “There are 50 Democrats in town, I know them all, how many friends do you need? Make your donations wisely.

Great unknowns

December 19, 2023

So the SF Giants signed another free agent – catcher Tom Murphy with an $8 million 2 year contract.

All together now – who?-

Wait, there have already been 8 NCAA bowl games? Wonder how many fans can name more than 1?

White House said Joe Biden plans one more Ukraine military aid package this month, but further assistance to Kyiv will require agreement in Congress.

Since GOP rallying behind man who both says he’ll be dictator AND Presidents have immunity, why not just do it by executive order?

GOP’s John Cornyn on bill for Ukraine aid & immigration reform “Not just Senate & president agreeing to something, we need something that can actually pass House & be signed into law.” W/ all due respect, Sen. Cornyn, today’s GOP led house couldn’t pass a bipartisan kidney stone

Remember, Russia has term limits, similar to USA, two terms for a President.

Vladimir Putin has been in power since 1999 & just signed law he convived to say his previous terms do not count. So he basically has appointed himself President for Life..

Velveeta Voldemort plans to get back to White House & never leave.

Southwest Airlines will pay a $35 million fine as part of a $140 million settlement to resolve a federal investigation into last Christmas’s canceled flights debacle. So how long until the airline adds a “fine” surcharge?

As we approach Christmas, remember, today’s MAGA would absolutely try to deport Mary and Joseph and their “anchor baby” Jesus.

At this point Trump could say he wanted to do a daily real life version of Shirley Jackson’s “The Lottery” and feels like many of his cult members would start filling their pockets with stones.

Apparently a lot of Republican Senators didn’t bother to show up Monday.

Majority leader Chuck Schumer put a number of nominations and procedures through by voice vote. Didn’t see any Senators on the floor besides Schumer and Minnesota’s Tina Smith. This was fun.

Stephen Colbert on the former Senate staffer who was fired for posting a video of himself having sex with another man in a Senate hearing room- which turns out to be the room where Senators grill nominees to the Supreme Court:

“They were doing in the room where they pick the Supreme Court. So in a ways, we’ve all been screwed there.

Jen Psaki reminds us Biden was first sworn into Senate at the hospital bedsides of his 3 & 4 yr old sons, Beau & Hunter, after they were critically injured in the accident killed his wife & daughter.

On top of everything else Joe Biden is a great dad. And GOP should be HONORING him for that.

Okay, even with negative campaigning there are limits….

November 3, 2008

Someone, apparently an Obama supporter, chartered a plane in Oakland to fly over the stadium with the banner “McCain is a Raiders fan.”

Okay, now this negative campaigning is going too far.

After Baylor barely lost to #14 Missouri in football their coach Art Briles said “It was a very emotional, very draining non-win.”

Well, if he loses his job at Baylor, Briles may have a great future with the Republican party.

The Washington Nationals have announced plans to lower the cost of some tickets in 2009.  This will put their prices more in line with other AAA teams.

Kudos to the San Francisco 49ers.  At least they didn’t embarrass themselves this Sunday with a  bye week.

Rewritten joke from yesterday:

Halloween is over and President Bush really enjoyed himself.  Although he was surprised to hear from John McCain about the new tradition of keeping your mask on until November 5.

You have to love American elections.  All this money, time and effort spent on convincing people who aren’t smart enough to have made up their minds until the last minute.

Wouldn’t it be nice to have a V-chip or something similar for early/absentee voters?  Then if you vote, you could get a chip for your television that would mute political ads until after the election….
