So close.

The first MLB wild card was instituted in 1994. And in 1993 the SF Giants won 103 games and it wasn’t enough to make the playoffs.

Now there are three wild cards in each league.

And while there won’t be any 103 game winners who won’t make it, there WILL probably be a team 15 or more games over .500 who won’t make it in the AL. While the Twins, just over .500, will probably make it easily.

Yeah, baseball was never meant to be fair.

MLB makes a LOT of dumb decisions.

Moving Sunday games in Southern California to Saturday doubleheaders was not one of them.

Fox New headline “166-yr-old luxury retailer warns it may relocate iconic store thanks to Democrats.”

What Fox isn’t saying: Gumps was sold in 1975, declared bankruptcy in 2018 & just reopened in June 2019 after being bought by investment banker & failed GOP US Senate candidate in Nevada John Chachas.

(And look, June 2019, when Chachas re-opened Gumps turned out to be maybe the worst time in history (except maybe 1906) to open an SF store selling expensive jewelry, trinkets and dust collecting things. But that would be true anywhere in the US.)

Russia says it’s robotic Luna-25 spacecraft “ceased its existence as a result of a collision with the lunar surface.” So next time one of Putin’s enemies falls out of a window will Russia say he/she “ceased their existence as a result of a collision with the ground?”

My grandparents lived in Kevin McCarthy’s district in So. Cal desert – area under threat from Hurricane Hilary. Out of curiosity went to Speaker McCarthy’s feed Saturday, wondering what advice/warnings he’s giving his constituents. Nothing, just attacks on Biden.

Again pro-life my a**.

(McCarthy FINALLY got around to reposting something Sunday at about 11a, after rain was already falling.)

Fox News actually claims Chuck Todd is a liberal. Because Todd “came to NBC through Tim Russert (note, Russert hired Todd in 2007) & “Todd worked for Dem. Sen. Tom Harkin’s 1992 presidential campaign in his college years.” Would be funny if so many Fox News didn’t believe it.

Ohio Senator JD Vance wrote an op-ed for USA today slamming President Biden for not doing enough for East Palestine..

Does Vance hope we’ll forget that when he was a Senate candidate, he slammed his own Republican party Senators for supporting the bipartisan infrastructure bill?

Just thinking, as GOP & conservative media try to convince us Joe’s relationship with his only surviving son is most important issue for 2024: Imagine if Joe had cut ties with Hunter. Then it would be nonstop criticism that the President abandoned his son for political reasons…

Just want to say again as President Jimmy Carter is entering his “final chapter” how proud I was to have volunteered for him in high school and to have voted for him as President. A great man and underrated President.
