Saturday Knights?

June 3, 2023

Las Vegas Golden Knights are off to a great start in NHL playoffs.

And the Las Vegas WNBA Aces are 5-0.

So explain to me why Vegas would want a minor league team like the As?

(60 games in, the A’s are 12-48, with a minus 210 runs deficity. Yes, that’s 3.5 runs per game. On average.)

Marjorie Three Names has been calling to publicly release the January 6 footage. But she now says it would pose a security risk for The Capitol building to do so.

Translation, there’s something on those tapes she doesn’t want the American public to see.

A Utah School district banned the Bible for elementary and middle school stuidents after a parent complained about “vulgarity and violence.” They’re right. David getting Bathsheba’s husband killed. And Lot’s daughters getting their dad drunk to sleep with him so they could get pregnant. For starters.

Per Merriam-Webster “Woke is now defined in this dictionary as “aware of and actively attentive to important facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice).

Yeah, I’m woke, and proud of it.

And to end the week.

This is the USDA in Washington DC, and the Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood Florida.

Happy pride month. #LoveWins

Tough choices

Have to wonder with Denver Nuggets-Miami-Heat NBA finals, nothing close to the big cities teams with big name stars that the media hoped for, what ABC/ESPN really is hoping will happen now?

A surprising long series in hopes of ginning up interest in some of the great players on both sides?

Or a Nuggets sweep to get it over with?

All hail diversity.

And yes, I have LA and NY friends, as I have Republican friends.

But choosing sides in a Dodgers vs Yankees series as a liberal SF Giants fan feels too much like rooting for someone in a GOP primary.

A tale of two cities.

SF Giants with Lamonte Wade Jr. record their 100th Splash Hit at AT&T Oracle Park

While the Oakland As move the counter to minus 199 on run differential…

CNN’s third 2024 Presidential Primary Town Hall will be with Mike Pence. “Great, can’t wait to hear what Pence has to say.” said nobody.

CNN also just teased a story “A surge that so far hasn’t happened. – the number of migrant crossings is plummeting.” Almost as if media is disappointed that the border crisis they touted as headline news for weeks didn’t happen.

Stock market up over 700 points, r best day of 2023. But over on Fox News website, the only headline about the economy “White House holds briefing as recession fears loom.” And we wonder sometimes why Biden poll numbers are lower than they should be.

Clip circulating on Donald Trump denying wrongdoing with classified documents “Everything I did was right.” That lie sums up his feelings about his entire Presidency. Actually his entire life.

James Spillane, NH GOP state lawmaker: “I’m withdrawing my endorsement (of Trump.) Thought he’d have positive message, learn from past mistakes. But it’s become evident, espec. w/ latest attack on Kayleigh McEnany there’s no loyalty in him.”

Has Spillane been under a rock?

Trump attorneys say they have not found the classified document Donald referred to on tape… Think it’s a pretty safe bet that, to use language that fits the Former Guy, “It sleeps with the fishes.”

How pathetic is it that on a bipartisan basis we all know that Donald Trump can’t use “the dog ate my homework” on that missing classified document. Because we know Donald wouldn’t never want to take care of a pet, and no dog would put up with him.

339,000 new jobs just in May. No wonder some in GOP wanted to default and tank the economy. They know this Dark Brandon guy has just been too good.

Amy Klobuchar quoting late Senator Paul Wellstone: “Politics is about the improvement of people’s lives.” Another reason I’m a Democrat: Biden & Dems are trying to improve people’s lives. GOP mostly now are just stirring up hatred & blame to distract people from their lives.

Mile higher?

So it might have take most of America until June 2023 to figure it out… but the Denver Nuggets are a very very good NBA team

Reports that former LA Dodgers star Steve Garvey may run for Senate in 2024 as Republican in California? ICYMI, in 1989 2 different women said they were pregnant by Garvey’s (Both had the babies, who he acknowledges) Garvey married a third woman, less than two months after ending the relationship with one of those mothers of his children. Steverhas 3 kids with his current wife.. Sounds like perfect match for today’s “family values” GOP.

In fact, there was a long ago joke that the three most common questions in a Lamaze couples class were 1. When are you due? 2. Is this your first? and 3. “Aren’t you steve garvey?”

Not that right-wing media doesn’t have enough to exaggerate about but wouldn’t blame President Biden if he pulled the Dark Brandon move of pretending to fall and being unable to sign the debt bill. Then immediately get up and say “Just kidding. Fooled you again, suckers.”

Chuck Schumer was doing attempted 10 minute votes (he got most of them down to 11 minutes or so) on amendments and told Senators to stay in their seats and keep conversations outside so they could pass the debt ceiling bill tonight at a reasonable hour.

Those moments when you truly realized what you need to know as majority leader is what you really did learn in Kindergarten.

Hey folks. As some in GOP lie and rant about work requirements for SNAP, and insinuate that some Americans are taking advantage, may I just point out food stamp benefits are about $182 per month per person. Not exactly enough money to sit home eating bonbons.

United, like most airlines, is DEI & LGBTQ friendly. And they sent this email today.

“During Pride Month we recognize those who advocate for LGBTQ+ equality. United MileagePlus Cardmembers can earn up to 10 miles per dollar when they donate to select nonprofit organizations from June 1-30.” Sorry haters.

Btw, Hertz and other car rental companies are also celebrating Pride month.

Many Republicans claim to be upset that the debt ceiling deal doesn’t have enough defense spending. If they care so much about our military why don’t they tell their GOP colleague Tommy Tuberville to stop his dangerous stunt of slowing down Pentagon appointments. Like NOW?!!

So what? Biden tripped yesterday? Chelsea Clinton, 43, is in a walking boot with broken toe because she tripped racing her kids. MN Rep. Angie Craig, 51, missed debt vote because she fell while gardening, broke bone & dislocated her ankle.

Stuff happens. Be careful out there.

Yeah, just a TV show, but gonna miss the wonderful characters on Ted Lasso.

(Slight Spoiler Alert)

Can they start a new show next year called “Roy Kent?”
